Best price on fuel tank due to rollover valve(or fix)

Just purchased a 2010 Patriot and it has the dreaded stalling after fill up. I see that the rollover valve is the suspected culprit and wondered if anyone has either devised a fix for the valve or has found a fairly inexpensive new tank replacement?(if so where)

I can't see paying over a grand for a tank when keeping just short of full does the trick. Thought by now someone may have came up with a cheap work-around.

Just in my thinking, I thought that if the full tank with a stuck valve splashed fuel to the canister causing the issue then maybe a fuel drop out of sorts might work. Was thinking kind of like a moisture trap in an airline system may work to keep the fuel from getting to the canister?

I don't know, just a quick brainstorm but would love to hear the answers and comments.

You could always remove the rollover valve. I haven't had this problem with mine, but I remember reading that you can remove the fuel pump, reach into the hole, then just reach over and pop out the valve. Or try thumping on the bottom of the tank around the filler neck with a rubber mallet to try to loosen the valve... think I'd try that first.

I would think removing it would cause the same issue? I don't know. I haven't really looked into the tank yet to see what's up. Thumping on the tank could be a possible quick fix but also a shot in the dark. Could thump it, go get gas and end up in the same situation. Thanks for the comment and I hope they keep coming!

It's inside the fuel tank, you can't see it well without cutting up the tank.

Here's the video on thumping on the bottom of the tank with a rubber mallet, it's worked for several people, not really a shot in the dark and you can always keep a mallet in the car if need be:

You could replace the fuel tank, but there's no guarantee the new one wouldn't develop the same issue.

You could also try a fuel additive / cleaner and see if that helps.

That's what i used. I put it on the vacuum line between the purge valve and the engine. The purge is low on the firewall under the air filter housing. Been working a few years now. Occasionally, if i don't stop at the first click of the gas nozzle or the pump is lazy with that click i may get a stumble, but it clears real fast.

Much easier to install with normal vacuum hoses and hose size adapters. Also easier to open it to inspect inside.

This is my oil catch can installed and now i rarely have the fill up stall. You can just make out the purge valve down below it.
