Hello All,
So, I have a 2010 Jeep Patriot 4x4 w/ an Automatic CVT transmission. I travel for work throughout MT, E. WA, and N. ID and have continuously been having problems with the transmission (since around 20K miles, possibly before) where it, after a while on the road, starts doing a high pitch whine. After I drive on it for a while a yellow thermometer light pops on and the vehicle will literally just stop accelerating all together. It gets worse when it is hot out. In fact, the last warm day we had here in Seattle, it wouldn't even accelerate enough to get on the highway at a proper speed - and I hadn't driven a long distance that day.
Now, with all that said, I DO have the extended warranty...
I have brought this car into the dealership to address this at least 4 times now and the dealerships can't seem to find anything wrong with it... Or so they say. Basically, because I travel so much I already have 75K miles on the car and I feel like they are trying to have me just deal with it until the warranty expires, at which point they will tell me the tranny is completely screwed and needs to be replaced. *Speculative* Regardless, they are now trying to claim that the problem lies with maintenance issues. I, however, refuse to start flushing the fluids (which are apparently now dirty, although this is the first time it's been brought to light.) for $388, when this issue has been going on long, long, long before I reached the mileage that I am currently at. I was actually told that unless they can replicate the problem, then there is nothing they can do about it.
I have found similar problems online regarding the CVT transmission but am curious if anyone else in this thread had the problems I explained with their transmission? And, furthermore, the warranty department at Chrysler? I am ready to start playing hardball if they don't fix this ASAP. Lastly, any advice on how to deal with the warranty department to get what I want would be greatly appreciated. I have contacted multiple dealers and called Chrysler on it's 877 number... Nothing is seeming to work in my favor.
I have documented this all with my camera, as well.
