Paint it Black Touch-up

After a year, my muffler paint job had eroded in spots, so I repainted it today. Nothing special, just wiped it down thoroughly with mineral spirits and reapplied Rustoleum High Heat Ultra in black. First photo is after it was cleaned.

Paint it Black (Muffler version)

I see my muffler and I want it painted black.
No silver anymore I want it to turn black!
When I looked hard enough into my paint supplies,
I found black High Heat Ultra - what a nice surprise.

I took a Scotch Brite pad from in my sundries drawer,
and scrubbed off lots of grime - but wait, there‘s more!
I poured some mineral spirits on a nice clean cloth,
And cleaned it bright enough that it would lure a moth.

I got to paint it, paint it, paint it, paint it black!
I got to see that spray, blotting out all the shine
I got to paint it, paint it, paint it black
It’s now as black as night, so sublime!

No more do I see brightness under my Jeep’s skirt.
Just darkness anymore - not even any dirt.
And if it fades away I’ll just have to face the facts,
And touch it up again, but ‘til then I can relax.

I had replaced my brake master cylinder almost 2 years ago, and for the past 8-10 months, I've been losing brake fluid and going nuts trying to find the leak. Turns out the new cylinder has been leaking into the vacuum brake booster. So I replaced both, but had to return the new (rebuilt) booster as it moans every time you press the brakes! I washed out my old booster and reinstalled it until a new booster comes in. Back to silence!

I get it!

I understand their business model and why they can sell parts so cheap. They buy parts that have sat for a while on other companies shelves, don't sell and are considered obsolete.
They sell some closeout stuff like that but most of the RA parts are current production. Some even ship from the manufacturer.

Again, the point was the incorrect/incomplete items in a box issue is common regardless of where you buy parts.
While you can check at the counter locally and save a return trip, the issue still occurs.
Even worse is it seems many places don't properly check returns so you can end up with a used/bad/wrong part for the local stores too.
A real PITA when it's ordered from another store/warehouse and takes days to arrive.
