I drove a 72 Mercedes 250 sedan.. it was sort of a tank. I more or less learned everything I know about working on a car while I owned it. I rebuilt the cylinder head and a good number of other parts. Anyway the brakes started to lock up on it too easily and I needed a vehicle with more cargo space and had rented a Patriot for a roadtrip. After comparing the patriot to the Honda CRV and Element and also the Scion XB I was still sold on the Patriot.

Can't say that I have any regrets except I do miss that Mercedes but I didn't have any place to keep it and it started to rot fast after I stopped driving it and had to junk it after stripping parts off of it.. it was a sad day.

For your entertainment... My last car was a 1996 Cutlass Supreme. It was that colour they call gold but is more like beige lol.

In my defence, it was my backup vehicle. My daily driver was a 2005 Ram 3500 (Company/Work Truck) with the 5.9L diesel. I also had my fuel covered so I had no reason to buy a vehicle lol.

Won't list the rest... There were many, some nicer than others.

2011 Lincoln Mark LT
2008 Chevrolet HHR
2002 Jaguar X-Type 3.0
2001 Ford F-150 King Ranch
2001 Volkswagen Jetta
2011 GMC Sierra
2012 Focus SE

The Focus was the first car that was officially mine. The others were either owned by my parents or shared with my brother. We got rid of all of these cars except the Focus and Mark LT because of mechanical issues or, in the Sierra's case, shoddy design. I could go on a whole rant about that, but basically, GMC designed their truck to have fender flares right in the path of gravel that gets kicked up from a dirt road, so it was down to bare metal after just a year of owning it. GM refused to repaint it or anything like that because they said the truck was "being used in a way that it wasn't designed to be used." Oh, please, it's a truck. You can't tell me me it was designed to never be taken off of pavement.

I have always had an "ooh shiny" issue, owned over 50 vehicles now, lots of muscle cars, many 4x4's, and a few common ordinary get from A to B vehicles too. None were ever company though.
I've had a couple collector cars over the years, but had neither the time nor the money to get into it as a hobby. If you're going to play with collector cars you have to have both time and money -- usually most people have one or the other. If you're working you've got the money but no time; if your not working you've got the time but no money. Finding both is tough and I gave up.

I have to admit that most of those vehicles happened when still single (the first 36 years) and oddly made more money than I do now (but being single makes your time your own). I was very into trading and had lots of automotive industry friends then. I settled down when I got married and the "average/everyday" vehicles that have more doors and better family habits kicked in. Honestly, the reason for the new patriot was exactly because I have the money to afford a new one, but due to family the time lacks, so I understand where you are coming from. Never give up, there is a way to do everything though it can be hard to see sometimes.

My friend had an '87 BMW 328 I think, or it might have been a 325is. Anyways I think it had the straight 6cyl and a 5 speed. Man was that thing quick!! He had it all blacked out with black and red interior, looked really good for an old beater!
