Before the Patriot, I drove a 2000 saturn (my first new car). When we traded in the odyssey, I gave that to my husband and I took the Patriot (except days he drives the carpool).

Since this thread has alot of VW people, I will add that my first car (briefly) was a VW diesel rabbit, next was an 85 jetta, then a 91 jetta (all used)

Long list

I've driven a lot. Patriot might replace my 91 Ram 250, but not sure. It's awful handy when you need it. I have a 95 Lebaron GTC convertible as well, that stays. Wife has 2004 T&C.

Vehicles from past that I loved....

70 Beetle with a 4 speed
72 F250 Ranger 4x4 4 speed (farm truck)
74 Dodge Demon 225 slant 6 3 speed
76 Dodge Aspen R/T 318 auto
80 Dodge 200, 225 slant 6, 4 speed (farm truck modded for heavy pulling)
81 Dasher Diesel 4 speed
91 Comanche I6 Rambler with injection, 4x4 auto (NEVER should of let that one go. Sold it to my dad, currently has 46,000 and just starting to rust, still all original including tires. Told him I want ti back when he's done with it)
53 Chevy Viking 2.5 ton w/230 straight 6, vaculator brakes, 4 speed, 2 speed vacuum operated rear end (farm truck)

Vehicles I hated....
72 Vega GT 140 auto
75 Dart 225 Slant 6, 3 on the tree (parents car)
76 Camero 350 w/Rochester Quadra Junk carb and 4 speed
81 Firebird 151 (Iron Duke) w/TBI 4 speed (nightmare of a car)

03 Subaru WRX
RallyCross Blue

I love the car, it's as fast a car as I could have ever wanted, handles like a dream, and is great in the snow. Just started our family, though... Good bye sports car, hello family car. I wanted the WRX for so long and am shedding one big alligator tear in trading it in. Feels like I am trading in a part of my youth with it. Looking forward to my 08 Patriot Sport to come in now, however... ordered on Friday the 13th!

I traded in my '05 Scion xB for my '07 Patriot. The xB has an incredible amount of room for a vehicle that small. Insane gas mileage (34 city, 37 highway), fully loaded it was $14,900. Top-shelf build quality (Toyota). Smoothest shifting 5-spd I've ever driven. Great ease of entry in both front and rear doors.

The downsides of it were, although it is made well, and feels solid, it also feels tinny. Everything fit tightly and evenly, but it just felt a little thin in the sheet metal. (If that makes any sense) Also, the gearing of the 5-spd is optimized for city driving. That meant great get-up-and-go around town, but had the engine screaming at highways speeds. (4000+ rpms @ 70-75 mph... in contrast, my Patriot revs @ 2000rpms at the same speed) The automatic loses only 2 mpg but is better geared for the highway.
