2011 pat. I think torque converter is starting to fail. At a light in drive,at idle will sometimes have to put in neutral. It is pretty severe most times, other times is tolerable. 110,000 miles cvt fd1. My wife says she can't feel it. It's isolated to the driver side. The steering wheel sometimes shakes and I can feel the engine run. Confused?!?!!$#. Maybe a dirty throttle body. Gas mileage sucks. 200m iles per tank. Need help

Patriots are notorious for shaky hoods, especially the earlier years.

A rough idle can happen with any automatic transmission in Drive. The engine is pulling against the brakes.

Also, if you didn't know, Patriot plugs are only good for 30,000 miles. Since most cars these days have 100,000 mile plugs, Patriot plugs are easily neglected. Plugs are an easy DIY.

Another frequently missed maintenance item is changing the CVT fluid and filters (there are 2). It should be done at least every 50,000 miles. The owners manual is very misleading on this.

IDK where you live, but if you're in a colder climate it could be water in the gas. In my area the temps have fluctuated widely from below zero F then approaching +50F a day or two later -- ideal conditions for condensation to form. Maybe a can of drygas or FI cleaner will help.

In any event, save the expensive stuff for last. You don't want to replace the tranny then discover you could have solved the problem for $20.

I live in PA. The vibration started about 3 months ago.
Pa has had very cold temps and then up to 70. Crazy. I will try the gas drier first. Then maybe clean throttle body. The vibration does soften up at times and purrs like a kitten. If I stop quickly it vibrates more. Very confused. Love my pat but I can't keep throwing money at it.

If it's not throwing codes, CEL, and / or otherwise running poorly, you could have the motor mounts checked and see if they need replaced.

A while back someone had the crankshaft pulley replaced and that supposedly helped, so you might check that too.

you are not alone in this, my patriot 2016 also suffering from exactly what you described, is rough and shudder engine within idle, once I stopped by lights or at parking lot the engine starting vibration, and this vibration can feel it exactly left side by the driver seat through the steering wheel and goes to entire car, I start see the plastic going off, also hearing a lot of squishing sounds from different area inside the car, finally I lost the horn and all connection for Bluetooth, So basically all electronic issues happened because of that shudder (vibration) from the engine.
Now am not a mechanic or that genius person, but it's really frustrated and 20% my income goes to mechanics shops, still they cannot find out,
as the others says I will go step by step checking and cleaning parts and engine sensors, i will keep posting results here with my investigation with that engine mystery issues and I will see what happen.
