Hey everyone, I'm just generally curious to see what the most sound lift kit option is for the Patriot. I'm pretty torn between:

  • Rocky Road Outfitters
  • Rough Country

Is anyone on here, that is active, running these lift kits? And if so, what are the general pros, cons and advice you would give for someone looking to get a lift. Thanks!!

Stu's coils here. :)

To me Stu's is the least likely to cause issues.

Spacer lift kits may give more clearance, but some have had issues with cv joints due to the extra angle, as well as alignment, handling and drive line vibration problems that were bad enough in some cases that the lift had to be removed.

Hey NYCoastie. Since this Sunday I’ve been looking at the same thing for my 2016 I got a couple months ago. I came across the Daystar 2.0” spacer kit. When I do this that’s what I’m going with. There are some good reviews on here about it too. You tube it also. Also checkout videos on how to install and operate Specialty Products p/n 81260 Here’s a screenshot…

Rocky Road, Rough Country, and Daystar all sell pretty much the same thing, except with Rocky Road you get an extra 1/8". All of them will stress out your axles and suspension angles quite a bit for that little bit of lift.

Murchison STU coils like @Sandstone has, while they give only 1" less lift if you're running the FD2-height suspension(standard on post-2010 FD1 models, but not pre-2011 FD1), will not cause as sharp of angles but will stiffen the ride a bit.

So if you like how the Patriot rides a bit more like a sedan than a pickup truck on the road but don't wanna shell out $$$$$$ pioneering a new lift that extends the suspension and axles further from the vehicle to give decent lift without stressing all those angles, honestly my advice is to just leave the suspension as it is and get some BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain tires in a size you know will work. I'm planning on getting some 215/65R17's if, Lord willing, I get the opportunity to do so. It's not the biggest I can run, but it's the factory size for mine so there's no need to have the gauges recalibrated and that size has already worked well for me for the better part of 15 years now.

I run stus coils and 225 65r17 tires. Been running it that way for 10 years now.

It’d be awesome if they had taller shocks for the Patriots. Preferably made by bilstein. But bilstein knows that amount of increase in ride height leveling is minimal for these cars before they have vibrations or shimmies. I wouldn’t go more than 1.5” lift honestly. The front axles can take the extra ride height but anything lesser quality than stock axles will cause terrible vibrations and issues. Stay away from crown automotive online or any surtrak axles. They are junk. Crown labels them as quality parts but they are in fact $60 for the price of over $100 on their site. Just a little information spreading for you guys. I’ve been through a few axles on the patriots and they require some good ones to work well.

I bailed on the Daystar. I still wanted some kinda Riot mod so I got 35mm wheel spacers, wheel adapters really. I need tires anyway so I figured why not. And rn tirerack has Cooper DISCOVERER ROAD+TRAIL AT on sale 235/65r17. I can pick them up local and also have a buddy mount and balance them. I’m on a shoestring budget 😅😅.
I’ll post pics asap. 10-14 days
