So I'm getting my hands on another patriot soon and have been cruising the net for parts to fix the thing up. I just randomly found a smashed outlander with a v6 local to me, so I think this might be the route I go if I can get my hands on the parts for cheap enough.

I'm thinking the wiring harnesses should be the same between the 2.4l to 3.0l but need to do some more research to be certain.

Besides the engine, transmission, tipm, and mounts what else does everyone else figure I'll need to scavenge from the outlander?

Oh and very shortly I'll be putting up an ad in the Outpost for the 2.4l engine and various other parts.

Good news! The smashed outlander owner is a motivated seller! Seems like a deal I can't refuse for the engine and tipm. Now just to find the 6spd transmission and wander into a Mitsubishi dealer tomorrow to see if they can confirm same harness or not.

I don't know how this is happening but everything is falling into line for the first v6 3.0l swap onto subframe for patriot.

Now another thing to ponder is should I try messing with gearing in any way? This transmission otherwise will be the same 6spd as the 2.4l patriots. Seeing as it will be a second vehicle needing it to be daily driveable isn't a worry of mine.

Outlander is the same thing(at least up here in Canada) The only issue with the outlander gearing, is that its not anything special from an offroad perspective, but really who cares, just getting a V6 into a patriot would be kinda sweet. I think its around a 14:1 crawl ratio

What year is the vehicle.

I'm doing this for pretty much that reason right there. /\

The motor and transmission combo I'm choosing is just because I think this is going to be the most "plug and play" so to speak lol swap.

A bit more research I've got the engine code I'm after 6B31 and looks like 2010+ had a higher compression at 10.5:1 vs. 9.5:1. The 2010+ engines had a bit more pep to them so I guess I'll back out on that wrecked 08 I found. Might as well get as much as I can, while I'm doing it. Don't worry I'll find it and everything else. Told buddy of my project today, he offered his heated garage for the winter. That will help a lot.

Once I get this 2008 patriot this weekend I'll start a build thread. Gonna be looking for a good project name...

the Newest 3.0L are 227hp and something around 215lb/ft of torque, that's a decent increase for sure. I can't see a single issue with any of the drivetrain stuff since it's pretty much the exact same as what the outlanders have. Now, put the same cvt behind it, and i'm sure you'd see it blow up. Whats happening with the engine out of the 2008...........maybe i'll buy it?

I'm not sure I like FrankenRiot too much. The vehicle is white and being that colour it's gonna be completely whited out lol. I was almost thinking "Project ******" or "Snowflake" something involving white in the name lol

I go to pick it up in the morning though.

This vehicle was a great find tho for me. I did a local vin search which showed no accidents. Then Tyler was generous enough to use a vin search service he had an account with and this vehicle showed a completely clean history.

I'm pretty excited for this honestly. I can't wait to out wheel a FDII lol.

Out wheel a what haha bring it. This will be a fun vehicle for sure when it's done. I suggested last night that this patriot be the test mule for all the stupid things that haven't been tried. If I cam track down a fdii ecm, we could try swapping that in. I think I also have dibs on the ac system as well of mine ends up being trashed. Srt wheels might look good on it too.
