Hey guys,
I bought jeep patriot 2016 high altitude 4x4 last year with 72000kms on it and now its driven almost 87000kms ,before this I use to drive new Honda civic touring which had 1.5Turbo but this being 4x4 with 2.4L engine the pick up is not upto the mark which I have experienced (might be because previously i was driving a new car),automatic transmission does'nt feel like automatic transmission I can literally feel change of gears like manual transmission, ride has become little smoother since i got my transmission fluid flushed at 86000km(suggested by mechanic),still sometimes have to press gas pedal too hard to make it move faster especially after a stop or at the lights and this way rpms goes upto 3000,while merging on highway rpms jumps up and reach 3500 than goes down slowly and stays at 2500rpm@120kmph,this rpm jump also happens going uphill with jerk, every dashboard lights goes off except engine light before turning the car on but engine light never came while driving, no error codes when i got it checked by mechanic and i don't know if i am loosing my mind or overthinking but i feel like after transmission flush its burning more gas. Also, any suggestion to keep this car maintained and gas saving tips for future as I am planning to keep this car as long as I could by looking at the new vehicle prices and interest rates lol

Thanks in advance.

You can try resetting the system and clearing all the learned adaptives by disconnecting both battery cables, touching and holding them together (use a zip tie or wire, etc. to hold them together if you need to) for 10 minutes or so, then reconnect and see if anything changes.

Welcome!

There are a couple threads on fuel economy on this site. Really, the best advice is to drive it easy: avoid heavy acceleration and avoid high speeds. Also consider that Patriot plugs should be changed every 30,000 miles or so -- these are not 100,000 mile plugs like most cars have today. With only 4 cylinders, a single misfire reduces your power by 25%. If you're on a quest to improve fuel economy, start with the cheap stuff.

The CEL will stay on between turning on the ignition and starting the engine, even after the other lights go out; it should go out after as the engine starts.

I'm not familiar with the conventional automatic transmission. If you have the CVT, the engine should rev high when you start, and you should only feel a single fake shift around 25MPH and then the RPMs will decline until you're at cruising speed (seems to be what you described). If you have the CVT you probably have the FD2 package and the lower ratio will mean poorer fuel economy.

I also have same jeep, mine has about 133346 mi on it .of course going up hill, you should manually drop it down a gear, depending on the hill, that will save your tranny a lot of shifting wear and tear.they just don't seem to get the greatest gas mileage either .but the gas tank is pretty small .yes it will go up to 3-4000 rpm when taking off from a stop, and then shifting.not much to worry about .they aren't really set up ,I don't think,to be super fast, off the line or at cruising speed.my cruises at 80 mph comfortably, but yea definitely not like a car with turbo.lol.
