Hello- I hadn't had any reason to post in the past year, as the Patriot has been doing fine. It's a 2016 model I picked up from a local used car dealer. I have replaced spark plugs, flushed the cooling system, new tires with wheel alignment, replaced the serpentine belt and a few other odds and ends. Now has about 125,000 on it. I replaced the throttle body last Feb, doing it myself, as finding a mechanic or a shop to do it in a timely fashion was not going to happen. About two years ago, I had a local shop do the brakes- complete. All in all, I think the Patriot is still a good vehicle for the price. Gas milage runs about 25 and up depending on town or highway driving. The radio is still junk. FM works sometimes and the cd player is good, but the am is not there. Marcone (?) would be turning over in his grave with embarrassment. I gave it the 10-year Ziebart treatment. It should outlast me, as I passed four score not lang age. Great forum!! KC

HI-- I did the process according to utube, with the heat gun. The radio worked for few weeks and is now back to intermittent, if at all. I used the heat gun but do not know what temp. to look for and hold it at, or for how long. Our am station is about 12 miles north, with 1500 watts output. I can get the radio out and get to the circuit board in about 8 minutes now.

I,too, attempted the heat gun repair with the same results as yours - failed after a few weeks.

I replaced my radio with a unit from Crutchfield. Yes, I know, Crutchfield costs a bit more but they have superb support and have harnesses custom designed for our Patriots. First time DIY installation is very easy if you have just a tiny bit of skill. At least start there to get some ideas. Lots of options, even a bigger screen if you are in to that.
