I have a 2016 jeep patriot, been driving it for over 5 years and last week I made a u turn and the Traction Control System (TCS) light came on for a few seconds, then the engine died. I still had power cause I was on the phone via Bluetooth. I tried to start it again but it would just click. I pushed it to the side of the road, waited a minute then tried it again and it started, but the check engine light came on. Error was p0335 crank shaft position sensor circuit error. I drove it home, then the next day when I turned the jeep on the check engine light was off. Before this I was getting the change oil notification but now that's not coming on. Should I just replace the crank shaft circuit? Could it be another reason that error came up? Id rather have it not die on me again. I know there was a recall for that part but my jeep was a few weeks after the selected dates. I also know nothing about cars. But any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Crankshaft position sensor died four times, in about one and a half years. It seemed it had problems when , driving faster than seventy five mph or 2.5 rpm's. Or, driving long drives. Or, both. Mechanic said more than likely inexpensive Asian lower quality that cost less to make, and breaks easier. He said next time, hell look into getting Jeep brand crankshaft position sensor. Driving an eight and a half hour drive, later today, renting a car because would rather be safe than sorry.

Just to clarify, the reason I suggested checking the battery and connections:

I tried to start it again but it would just click. I pushed it to the side of the road, waited a minute then tried it again and it started...

A bad crankshaft position sensor shouldn't cause the car to "just click", it should still crank / turn over but might not start.

If there's a bad power connection somewhere, it could have caused a power dropout that caused the engine to stall, made it appear to the system the crankshaft position sensor failed, and also caused the "Change Oil" notice to be reset.

Thank you for the suggestion, I've had issues with the battery connection before. After I checked them and turned on the jeep and the throttle control warning light and the traction control system light came on. I turned the jeep off, waited a few minutes and turned it back on and the warning lights went away

Since you have a 2016, another thing you may want to check into if you haven't already:

You should be able to use your VIN to see if your vehicle is included:
