i can't think of a better option than KYB.great quality there.
you might be able to find special reinforced shocks but those are expensive

 

EDIT - I didn't realize you were in the UK when I posted this. I always forget that there are a lot of people from outside this country on this forum. The prices and retailers listed below are assuming a US owner. You should still be able to get these brands however.

I have never actually been a big fan of KYB shocks. Used to sell them and had a lot of problems with them. Others like them but me not so much. Many other brands I would prefer over KYB. I would probably take KYB over the OE product but not over other aftermarket brands I prefer( when available ).

There are a couple other available options for you. Just note they will be for 2007-2010 models only. It appears in 2011+ the shocks changed and no aftermarket company( including KYB )has anything yet that I could find anyway...???

I. MONROE: Monroe offers them in their Sensa-Trac line. The Sensa-Trac shocks/struts are a pretty good product. At least for on road use. Not really designed to be an off road shock/strut but would definitely be an upgrade over the OE struts. Of the ones I have found available, if I needed struts for an 07-10, these would be what I would go with.

Front Left = 72368

Rear(2) = 72401
* NOTE - You can use these numbers at Napa too as their shocks are actually relabeled Monroe and use the same part#

Rockauto stocks them for the best prices I have seen. A full set of fronts and rears, with shipping, should set you back less than $255.00( was $253.12 to my zip to check ). If you have a coupon code all the better.

II. GABRIEL: Gabriel offers them in their Ultra line. This is a decent shock/strut brand if you use one of their better lines( their cheap ones are really cheap ). The Ultra line is one of their best lines. As with the Monroe's above I would not call these an off road type of shock but rather an upgrade over the OE ones for on road use. I would take these as a 2nd option before KYB but that is just me.

AutoZone among other parts stores sells them. I doubt you can beat the Rockauto price on the Monroe's however. Would be over $300 for the Gabriel's at AZ.

Hey man I'm going to be replaced our struts all round in the next few weeks. You can get a full set of Sensen for £170 on the cheap end But a full set of Monroe only cone in at £230 these are what I'll be fitting.

Funny how different experiences can be. Given the choices of Monroe, Gabriel and KYB, I'd take the KYB over a Monroe any day. Monroe's just never seem to last, whether as a shock or strut and never feel firm enough to me in their valving. Whenever I've used KYB shocks (as in I had the spare money to buy them) they have always worked well. I have 60k miles on the KYB Gas-Adjusts on my wife's GMC now and they still work great.

I had the same experience with Monroe.

 

I would go monroe anyday of the week. I have the reflex monotubes on my JK unlimited and love them. I am willing to bet the sensi trac will be a huge upgrade on and off road to the stock junk. Alot of jeepers running bigger gear are using both sensi's and reflex with great results on and off road. plus, the monroes have a lifetime warranty. just bring the trashed one back and get a new one.

 

KYB without any doubt. They are better quality than OEM and also lifetime warranty. 278$ for the complete set is an incredible deal!! I found them for 350$ locally and I thought I had found an amazing deal...

 

I just went with OEM rear coils and shocks, seems everything else comes with the "ride/performance" disclaimer that it "will change your ride".

My parts arrived today and I am pleased to report that the new shocks are now nitrogen charged, which evidently wasn't the case in '07.

Components go on Friday morning and then off to the alignment for the rear only.

OEM with discount from the dealer $225. Figured why not make it all new back there as rears tend to drop more than fronts, especially since there's a hitch back there.

I am amazed that the coils can compress as far as they do, as I hold one in my hand.:wow:

KYB's site doesn't list front struts for a Patriot/Compass newer than 2010. You might try emailing them and see what they say.

They do have front struts for 2007-2010, just not 2011 or later.

 

Hi guys! I have 2011 Jeep Patriot Sport 2.4 L. Recently installed KYB excel-G struts, kept original springs. Now it rides very hard. I feel even very small unevenness in the road. Can't put my head at headrest, it starts paining. I didn't like these. Tires are 225/60R17, and pressure is 38 psi at front, 33 psi at rear. Any suggestions please.

 

I have a 2014 Jeep Patriot Latitude with 4WD (I have option to use the switch to turn 4WD on) I don't believe it is AWD. Anyway, I've been looking around for replacement struts and coil spring, I need rear the most, as my rear right shock absorber is leaking fluid and my ride has become extremely fragile. Is there a difference between FWD and 4WD strut and coil spring quick struts? I prefer getting the fully assembled set, as it seems like an easier way to quickly replace without having to compress the springs, or take it to a mechanic. I would rather change them out myself to save some money, I'm just not sure what I should order because everything I've found always says it's for FWD when I select rear struts and coils spring assembly. Did you find out ?? I have a 2011 Jeep Patriot Limited with 4wd and need to change out the rear coil spring quick struts like you planned on doing ... rockauto has but states fwd ... is it the same ?
