I have an 07’ Jeep Patriot and it will go into limp mode while driving, this has been an ongoing problem for over a year, replaced throttle body and a crap ton of stuff on it, drove it yesterday did great to where i was going on the way back home got maybe a quarter of a mile and it wouldn’t accelerate or go over 25mph and going up hills it has absolutely no power and will loose acceleration while going up hill and will drop to 5mph or less, someone please help i need my jeep and i have a 1 year old daughter but this jeep isnt a safe vehicle for her to be in the way it is right now! Anyone else have this problem or have any idea what is causing this or why this is happening?

Hi, welcome to the forum!

Limp mode can be caused by a number of things.

If possible, I would try to get the error codes read and see what the system thinks is going on. If you don't have a code reader / scanner a local auto parts store might read them for you for free.

If it has the automatic transmission (CVT) it's possible the transmission is having issues due to not having the fluid and both filters changed soon enough.

The factory fluid should be replaced at 30k miles, then 30-50k thereafter. If this isn't done then internal damage can occur.

More info on fluid and filter change here:

Welcome to the group. Sorry you're having problems with your Patriot. The first step would be to get the codes read. As Sandstone said, many autoparts stores will do that for free. Post the codes here and we can help.

I have a misfire on cylinder 1 & 3 and a code for crankshaft positioner sensor wasn’t learned, but i had someone program it with a scanner and clear the misfire codes but it went right back into limp mode as soon as this was done while i drove it home, when i first start it and go it does great then when the motor gets warm thats when it goes into limp mode and it does have cool packs

Yeah I didn’t want to say that to you, but my 2010 Latitude edition is only worth like $2500 right now. I’m guessing your 2007 depending on the trim model is worth far less. Need something reliable for the baby.
