Takes maybe three ro four weeks, it seems, for antifreeze to be very low. Mechanic said has a leak and costs three hundred dollars. Its not bad where have to check it every couple of days. What could be the issue causing the coolant to leak ?

Idk if this sort of knowledge transfers over between platforms, but my Suburban, a GMT-400 model, is slowly losing coolant and the stealership says it needs a new water pump. Maybe that's it?

Maybe check the oil, just to be safe. Sometimes oil gets into the coolant or coolant into the oil. Only really seen it on diesels, but, it doesn't hurt to check.

Sadly, it's happened a few times here. :(

One of the more common leak points is the thermostat housing assembly where it bolts to the head. Just below it is a pocket on the transmission that conveniently catches the leak and shows a puddle. Also the plastic fitting for the radiator cap on the upper hose assembly.

Had the same issue, turned out to be a faulty radiator cap, which I replaced on a whim after the shop assured me my system stayed pressurized all night when they tested it (for which they had to take off the cap, obviously). Does it smell like burnt coolant when your motor is hot?
