I'm glad you stated the article is the writer's opinion. It's based on a lot of fluff and not much substance. Often, it seems he ranked the vehicles based on changes to their trim levels.
Yeah, sounds like the writer doesn't know much about the Patriot at all.

Its a long time, as long as everything is maintained. At almost 210 k , bought ion 15 with 48 k. Spark plugs on riots need to be changed every 30,000 miles. CVT Fluid/filter change every 50 k.

I have a 2016 jeep patriot I bought new. No problems so far, 65,000 miles. Had it checked before taking a trip and the mechanic said he "tried very hard" to find something wrong and couldn't. He loved it.
Welcome to the site! A Patriot, and really any vehicle, will last as long as you want it to. Heck, reading Hemmings almost every month there are stories about original cars from decades ago. For most practical purposes I think 250,000 miles is probably the threshold where repairs are no longer cost-efficient, but even that is arbitrary -- I've taken cars (including my 2008 Patriot) well past that.

My Dad gave me two proverbs by which I decide.
1. The cheapest car you'll ever own is the one you own today.
2. Any car is worth one major repair.
Still applying His advice 10 years after His passing, I replaced the transmission in our 2014 Patriot last fall; I'm planning on getting it to 300,000 miles. When I considered trading-in a couple years ago the dealer offered me peanuts so I kept it. I still think I made a good decision. I love my Patriot!
