I think the alarm was optional except on certain export models. Mine doesn't have it either.

I have an 08 Patriot Sport. Just a question on whether or not my Patriot has an alarm or not. When I lock the car with the key fob, the horn beeps. A couple times I left my window down and reached inside to open the door and the alarm never sounds. So what is the point of that "Beep" when I lock...

Since all of them have the panic alarm on the key fob, it makes wonder if this is an option that jscan or other obdii app can enable...hmmm.

Just for fun, I used AlfaOBD and set the interior vehicle theft alarm to "VTA". The default was "No security".

Now when I lock it with the key fob, the security led shows it goes through the arming process (flashing fast for 15 secs) then flashes slowly, so the alarm is apparently activated and working.

Well, that's good to know! Free alarm! Lol.

 

Not quite free, (I did pay for the app), but I'm sure it's a heck of a lot cheaper than the factory/dealer.
