My stereo comes on, no problem. However, it will play for a few seconds then the sound cuts in and out with a slight popping sound.
Any information on what is causing it and guidance on what to do is appreciated. Thank you

You can try checking all the connectors and wiring, but sometimes problems like this are caused by bad solder joints on the circuit boards.

There's a few youtubes around on how others tried to fix this problem by re-flowing the solder, sometimes it works but other times it comes down to replacing the deck.

Thank you for responding. I've decided that I'll probably be better off just getting another deck. I'm actually wanting to stay with a factory deck instead of aftermarket.
I'm new to the Patriots but I'm loving it thus far. Just working all the bugs and discrepancies out.

I have this model, very few problems. Got a spare back in 2019 or 2020 when the original was occasionally switching itself to auxiliary mode, but before the replacement arrived, the problem solved itself. So the spare never got installed, and is sitting on a shelf just in case.

I have a 2017 Patriot Latitude and my stereo started doing this last week with the 130s. I also have a 2016 Compass High Altitude with the 430s touch screen. I just swapped them out, plug and play. I didn't need the code to get it to work. Took me less than 30 minutes. The only thing I had to do was switch my Sirius Xm from one stereo to the other, cost was $16.

Like Rossoracer, I also still have my factory 2008 single cd stereo. I use an aux cable from my phone to the aux port for listening to maps, mp3's and audio books. It's dead reliable. And while a touch screen android unit would be cool, getting the proper 2008 interior panel is expensive and difficult. Plus I can press physical buttons without taking my eyes off the road.

Plus we drive Jeeps, not Mercedes-Benz's, Aston Martins, Bentleys, or Rolls-Royces. The whole point of a Jeep is to be simple.....since 1941.
