Thought it might be interesting to see the issue concentration by production year.

My 2008: Occasionally muddy? Yes. Dry inside? Always (except that one time I left the rear windows open during a thunder shower) ;-P

I have had my Pat for 2years 9months and has been in the dealer 7 times for water leak in the rear cargo dome. Also I have found out that the previous owner who had the car before me for only 3months returned it back because of the water leaking in! Out of the 3months he owned the car he only had it in his possetion for 5weeks the rest of the time it was with the dealer being repaired. (Or should I say trying to be repaired as it still leaks now after 3years!!!!)

Wow 144 views, only 30 votes? Has been a know issue in 2007,8,9 and early 10, from reading post in other threads appears to be mostly Patriots with sunroofs.
Very interested in seeing if maybe the leak issue has been fixed.

2008 w/Sunroof leaked

Just got 2011 w/Sunroof so I'll be able to see if this one leaks too. We've had lots of rain but not the hard rain that I knew made my other one leak so I might not be able to tell until next year early spring with snow melting.

2010 Sport w/sunroof.

Only leaked once, on a sunny, cold (18F) day this March. Water came pouring through the front dome light. Brought it to the dealer, who found crap in the sunroof drain holes. The sun melted the ice on the roof, and the water backed up.

Dealer cleaned the drains, and no leaks since, even with the wettest spring on record. I drove around with a roll of paper towels for 2 months, never had to use them.

It appears that 2011s without sunroof do not have any leaking problems. I know mine has remained dry through multiple downpours and frequent high-pressure washes. (Of course any vehicle with a sunroof has the potential of eventually suffering from a clogged sunroof drain tube, and any vehicle can suffer a clogged AC drain tube too and have condensate getting dumped on the front floor.)

It is pretty sad that it took Jeep 4 production years to get this roof leaking problem figured out!

2009 with sunroof. Leaked when brand new from front dome light. Fixed with one trip to dealer (knocking on wood). Now I'm seeing some drips on the inside of the gate window in the center. I never dreamed that I would have to worry about a car leaking in this day and age of technology!

2010 W/O Sunroof
Never leaked despite hard rains

Just putting in my 2 cents. I have a 2011 Patriot with a sunroof. No leaks until the first torrential rain. Brought it back to the dealership and they said that the sunroof drains were incorrectly installed at the factory. The dealership fixed the drains at no cost to me and I've had no problems since.

LEAK

Hello 2010 Jeep partiot sport. NO SUNROOF. Have taken it to the dealership 3 times and the 3rd time they just decide to put clear silicone sealant on the body seems around the hatch and in the roof ditches. Super pissed. Working with chrysler to try and have them buy it back. If all goes well i can get into the manual instead of the CVT this time too. Anyone filed lemon laws and won for this?

Of the people who answered, it looks like a vocal minority ever had any problems with leaks.
