I wish I had a proper wiring diagram to help you, unfortunately I have been unable to download and open up the ones I have found ,and I won't have the jeep long enough to bother purchasing one .
Not a problem. I appreciate you guys helping me out. It looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and order a TIPM from Rockauto and hope that does the trick. Thanks again.

I don't know where you live ,but there is a guy in Toronto that rebuilds them for about $300.00 ,yours get redone so you don't need to go to the dealer to reprogram it .
I'm in Pennsylvania. Rockauto has them for $300 + 200 core, and they're supposedly blanks so programming should be a breeze with no need for the dealer.

Those are the dorman ones they sell. They have a youtube video that explains install and programming. I wish they had one for my 2010 and I would be willing to give that a shot before I dive more into wiring stuff.
I finally got around to ordering the TIPM last week and it should be here in a few hours. *fingers crossed* I am so sick of driving my wife's CRV; it's like driving a top heavy boat when compared to my Pat.

And it didn't do a damn thing. Didn't even fix the passenger side headlight issue. That was money well spent...

EDIT: I think it's time to just trade it in. I don't want a car payment, but I need a reliable car that's not going to need $$ thrown at it randomly in hopes of fixing issues.

Thanks for the heads up, but unfortunately I don't think this is my issue. I've attempted to bypass the ignition (turning the key to run, but feeding power directly to the starter). It will crank then, but still won't start. My issue has to be the sentry key issue, or it's some deep-seated electrical problem.

However, this sounds like a possible solution to the problem you guys posted in here.

My friend and I are doing a road trip tomorrow to pick up another roadrunner for him ,Mother's Day is Sunday but I will pull my column apart if I have time and ambition and see what we have got going on in there .I will say ,my key has a nice twist so I wouldn't be surprised if something is physically broken in there .

I'm having it towed to the dealership this weekend. If they tell me it's the TIPM, I'm going to go all Bruce Banner on them. :boxing:
I wouldn't blame you either. I lost my temper a bit last time I went to the dealership, cleared out the service department lol. But I'm convinced its not the tipm in my case and that's what they wanted to changed for $1300 plus labor.

Let us know how that goes. I'm 5 days away from seeing mine again but its top priority when I get home. It has to be something in there for me since it doesn't acknowledge the key being turned to the start position. And I think I know what you mean by the key seems twisted a bit, mine is a bit plus mine wiggles slightly in the ignition. Maybe lightening up the key chain would help me prevent this problem next time, if it is the case.

Jeep Patriot Motor Starter relay Fix

My starter relay one of the Pins was severely corroded to the point the socket was done and no way to fix it
So to get around the astronomical price for replacement parts I retrofitted another relay from Amazon

Ehdis [2 Pack] Car Automotive Truck Boat 40 AMP Relay Harness 12V 40A SPDT Relay Socket Plug 5 Pin 5 Wire Bosch Style $14.99

I disassembled the relay box an the connection in question pulled right out
The wires in question
Small red with Gray Tracer,/ Common 12vdc for all the relays in the relay box
Small Blue with Gray Tracer / Return wire to the ignition switch
Large Blue wire with Gray Tracer / Relay Power to the motor starter
Large Red Wire with Gray Tracer/ 12vdc to power the starter

1) Remove Battery for ease of access to the Relay Box

2) Remove and disassemble the relay box

3) Locate and clip the wires as close to the connector as possible be careful that you only cut the wires you want to and by doing this will allow you enough length when done to mount the relay to the inside of the fender

4) Then connect to the new relay
You can crimp but I don't advise this, as crimped connection have been known to fail quickly if you don't have a high end ratcheting crimp tool with the proper dies to match the crimps you are using, so I soldered and shrink tubed mine
Connect as follows to the new relay
Small Red w/Gray Tracer to Red Coil connection
Small Blue w/Gray Tracer to Yellow Coil Connection
Large Red w/Gray Tracer to Black Contact Connection
Large Blue w/Gray Tracer to Blue Contact Connection

If done correctly you should have enough wire left to mount the relay to the inner fender panel with a self tapping Screw

Please help, read all the comments on this post, Jeep Patriot has been a curse since I got it. Jeep will not start, lights are on, headlights are bright when turned on, won't even turn on. Had a big storm and snow got under hood and everything is covered with snow. Is it hopeful to think it is just wet with snow? Pushed it to try and start and backed to try and start, didn't work, help!

"Won't even turn on" Do you mean starter won't crank, or starter cranks but the engine doesn't catch?

A little more info would help: What year is your Patriot? After 4-5 years it could be the battery or the battery cables.

It is still possible that even though the headlights work, it still doens't have enough strength to start. The starter draws a lot more amps than the headlights.

Start with the cheap & easy stuff first. I'd start with the battery connections and the both ends of the ground.

Yes it is possible that the snow in there has something to do with it. In the blizzard of '77 my Volare got packed with snow and it froze my carburetor linkage and it was a couple weeks before things worked right. You might have gotten water some place it shouldn't be.

From reading your post I deduce you have a manual? I presume you know how to push start.

One more possibility might be a bad chip key. Even if a key opens the door, if the engine and the chip don't talk to each other it will not start. Though I think it would crank, but I'm not sure on that.

did anyone ever find the solution to the OP's problem? i've been fighting a no start issue on my dad's patriot. its an 08, cvt trans. about a year ago it randomly wouldn't start, put in a new starter to no effect. we then replaced the TIPM with a junkyard replacement, also no effect, so we put the original back in. we found that relay that's mentioned, which was corroded as said, replaced it and still no bueno. we have a push button start, which makes it driveable, but it won't pass inspection due to OBD II code P168B "battery disconnect/TCM internal." it also has had the transmission replaced since the issue started, as it went full nuclear and burned the belt up.
