hello, my son gave me his 2014 patriot sport fwd 2.0 automatic, manual locks and windows. 120k with no problems since new. will be used for runs to the store and camping. perfect for an old guy and a tent. do most repairs and maintenance myself so I expect this forum will really come in handy. one question. I know a lot of wrangler owners don't think anything not lifted with big tires is not worthy of the jeep wave but do patriot owners wave to each other?

Welcome! In answer to your question, the short answer is No. For Wrangler owners its kind of a cult thing. Like antique car drivers will wave to one another. Maybe as Patriots become scarce a wave will start to catch on. Who would think the owners of Chevettes or Volares would wave to each other? They were such cookie-cutter cars. But today they are scarce and if one owner sees another there's sure to be a wave. :smiley_thumbs_up:

Friendly suggestion. If you have the CVT transmission, unless you know its been done, I suggest changing out the transmission fluid and filter. ignore the owners manual, it should be done every 50-60,000 miles. Since one does not look a gift horse in the mouth you probably didn't check the sub-frame. A few (not all) have had premature rust so for safety's sake it would be worth a look under there.

Give my regards to old Virginny. I worked there for a couple years back in the early '80s -- DC area.

There are many Patriot (and other no-longer-sold Jeep designs) on the road in Virginia, but the owners generally do not consider themselves to be members of the Jeep culture - nor do they know much about it - as that is usually confined to the Wrangler owners and to a far lesser extent, owners of the Cherokee/Grand Cherokee vehicle.
