hey everyone so I have a 2016 jeep patriot high altitude 4x4 and I financed and when I first got it everything seemed fine then a couple weeks into driving I started to notice a bit of a lag in the transmission or something when u slow down and go to push the throttle down it will like skip but rps stay normal doesn't matter fast or slow or how much u push the gas down. The front left tire started to wear on the inside bad so I took it to the shop and had a front end inspection and an alignment done new tires then 2 weeks latter both of my front tires the inside was bald bad so I called again and he said it must have been a bad alignment so took it in again and he checked the intire jeep over and only found one cracked bushing but said it had nothing to do with my stearing n that was not the problem and that it was out of alignment really bad so he did another n its been okay since but still lages when coming onto gas and now my check engin light keeps coming on for no reason hooked up a code reader and its saying no codes are coming up so at this point I am completely frustrated with this jeep and need help to figure this stuff out im a butcher I dont know anything about mechanics please someone help me!!

Welcome

When's the last time the spark plugs were changed? Stock plugs are only good for about 30k miles/ 48280 km.

When they go bad they can cause a feeling like a transmission slip with no codes.

Very common problem.

Ditto what Sandstone said above. Also consider that inconsistently worn tires can confuse the ECM causing a slipping sensation (like the engine quits for an RPM or two) and it doesn't show on the tach -- similar to what you are describing. That might be why your codes are coming up blank.

Did the mechanic check for TSBs and updates (you weren't clear as to whether it was a dealership or just a local.mechanoc who did the job)? Could simply be a software bug

Also, what sort of code reader was.plugged in to check codes? An advanced scan tool will read all systems, however, if you are using a basic device and the code is being commanded by a module it can't read it will be as though it's coming on for no reason.

It was not the top of line code reader and I guess it is throwing a code now something to do with fuel idk code off top of my head but I dont think the lad is the reason for the engin light as it was laying long befor the engin light came on and idk if the mechanic tested or check the tbs idk what that is

Fuel problems could certainly explain why the car lags on acceleration and if it's a borderline problem than that would also explain why the check engine light comes on and off.

It's a 2016 so it would be odd to have a plugged fuel strainer/pump, but recalls and TSBs happen for reasons. Maybe your pump is just prematurely going bad or the fuel regulator on the pump. You press the accelerator and the pump is able to keep up with the demand and the pressure drops. Engine lags and check engine comes on briefly.
