I have a 2012 Patriot 2.4 liter, 4wd, CVT, 159k miles. Little/no power, engine won't rev over 3,000 rpm when floored even when not in gear. MIL and ESC lights are on. Had it in to the dealer who diagnosed Cyl #3 misfire due to bad ignition coil. Replaced coil and (supposedly) road tested. On way home from dealer, SAME symptoms arose after driving about 3 miles.

I get that the MIL light comes on due to the cylinder #3 misfire, but what does that have to do with the ESC? Ideas welcome before I take it back on Monday.

The same thing is going on with my 2011 jeep patriot 2.0 . I just bought it back in July 2022. At first the MIL and ESC light came on here and there and when I cut the car off and back on it would go away. But now it is on 24/7 and stuck in limp mode which is dangerous as he'll. It won't go over 3000 rpms and is running very very sluggish.. I do have a warranty so I took it to the dealership and they replaced the alternator and the ac compressor and when I first got it home it ran like a whole new car but a few hours later the same lights came on. It is reading p0340 code which is the camshaft position sensor. Our jeep has 2 so I replaced both but it still is going into limp mode. I don't know what to do cause it is almost impossible to keep driving it this way plus I don't wanna mess up anything further. All my mechanic friends are all telling me they have no idea what's going on. Someone please give me some feedback cause I dunno what to do anymore. Thanks oh also my jeep has around 207,000 miles on it.

Wiring / connectors can cause this, or a failing PCM.

Here's a thread the mechanics might find useful:

It would also help if they have a scanner that can display or graph live data from the camshaft position sensors to see if the proper signal is there.
