I have a 2009 Jeep Patriot. Anyone have instructions how to remove the key ignition switch?

Just an FYI, I was able to remove my ignition electrical switch with only removing the column covers and nothing else. You will need a safety torx bit (they have little holes in the ends) to remove the small retainer screw but I used one bit from a multi-bit screwdriver set and a 1/4 inch box end wrench on the bit. I also just disassembled the switch, scotchbrited the contacts, greased it and put it back into service without buying a new switch.

I only did the electrical part of the switch, my key cylinder works fine. The electric switch can be unbolted off the left side of the steering column. No steering wheel removal necessary. I'll see if I can find the procedure for the lock cylinder and whether it can slide out of the housing or not.
