..as in does it pull to the RIGHT upon acceleration??? I finally got around to getting my '16 Pat "aligned" and it runs pretty straight during normal highway cruising. But from a dead stop when give it some throttle, it still pulls to the right. Does anybody else here have that problem? Just want to know if this is a design flaw and I have to live with this for the rest of my (and my car's) life. Thanks in advance for any input or suggestions.

Hi Wes Verinder,

There is a TSB on some 2016 Patriots that relates to the vehicle pulling right or left:

"NUMBER: 02-003-15
GROUP: Front Suspension
DATE: January 27, 2015

SUBJECT:
Vehicle Pulls Or Leads Right Or Left

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe the vehicle pulls or leads right or left."

Your local dealership will be able to identify if this TSB applies to your vehicle and assist you further. Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Located the Technical Service Bulletin, it addresses alignment issues, I got it. It does not address any pull left or right during acceleration. Try it, see if the wheel yanks to the right if you give it half throttle or more. Is there anything that talks about steering problems during acceleration?

Hi Wes Verinder,

Unfortunately, that was the only TSB I could find related to your concern. I would recommend visiting your local dealership for further diagnosis on your vehicle. They would be able to run your VIN to see if I missed a TSB and/or look into your concern further for you. Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Wes Verinder, is your Patriot AWD or FWD? 2.4 or 2.0? Your problem could be torque steer, but my Patriot is FWD with the 2.4 and that would be the best conditions for torque steer to happen. I don't really feel it; not like I did in my Pontiac (3.8). My thought is that the Patriot really doesn't have the guts to make a noticeable pull to one side. But if its only under acceleration and yours is FWD, it could be. Nothing going to cure that. Its inherent in all FWD vehicles. Manufacturers go to great lengths to minimize it, but its always there.

My 2015 goes straight down the road and I usually floor it about ever time I leave my house. The road I have to turn onto after I get to the main road is a very busy road and a hill to my right so I can't see very far in that distance. There is a 35 mph speed limit but most cars are going faster than that. So when I make a left hand turn I floor it all the way down usually and it goes straight as can be. I did have a 2 wheel drive before this and it it may have had a little torque pull to the right, but it wasn"t much if I remember correctly but I think I could feel it--both have the 2.4 engine and 6 speed auto. It was also a 2015--just decided I wanted the 4 by 4 and that eliminates the front wheels from spinning too when I accelerate fast even on a wet road. I had a 3.6 Chrysler 200 (2011) and that vehicle really pulled to the right when taking off with that v-6. My 2016 V-6 Jeep Cherokee doesn't seem to pull any either, but it is also a 4 wheel drive.

Thanks for all the replies. Concerning other FWD cars I have owned (and hated...) 1993 Pontiac Grand Am, 3.2 V-6 FWD, 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix, 3.4HO V-6 with 175 hp, and a 2003 Buick Le Sabre Custom, 3.8 GenII V-6 (that would absolutely smoke some stock 5.0 Mustangs), not once did I ever have any torque steer under hard acceleration with any of these. My Patriot is 2.0 with the rubber-band-trans. No power, no frills, just a basic mode of transporting my race bicycle and getting me to work-n-back. Best thing bout it is the Sirius XM radio. I can chill with jazz or spa, or jam with the Metal channel before a bike ride. Love the little body on it but if I ever win the Lotto, I'm going to put a tube chassis under that body and install a high winding Ford 289 with a GM powerglide and go bracket racing, but that's another story... Have a great week!
