Hi guys,
I just going the club. I bought 2007 jeep patriot 2.4L 4wd automatic.
automaton I live in Dubai. The jeep is good running condition for the price I bought.
I need to know about the fuel consumption/litre. At present I get around 5 to 6.5/litre. Or on 1 full tank around 250kms standard and max 300 in I go highway.
I have change the air filter, spark plug. I have read few forms n it says it give around 10kms/litr. Pls suggest me what all I need to check. Also I feel there is less power n max speed it touch Is 120kms.
Thanks,

Stanley

That automatic is probably a CVT, so you may want to make sure the fluid and filters have been changed. No gears in there. Interesting design really.

As for fuel consumption, my 2010 FD1(no L on shifter after 2007 unless it was the FD2 Trail Rated version) gets 22-23mpg by US measurement on a bad day, and about 27 on a good day. I believe that's respectively 9.35km/L(22mpg) and 11.48km/L(27mpg) by your measurements. Convert Miles Per Gallon (US) to Kilometers per Liter

Welcome to the forum!

One thing you can try is disconnecting the battery cables, touching them together and leaving them that way for an hour, then reconnect to reset the adaptives from the last driver.

Hi,
Always check the tyre pressure it's always 35PSI.
I live in DXB n there is always traffic all over, but what i read and understand, still i should get easily 350kms in city traffic.
There is no modification on my jeep. It's all original fits.
New air filter n spark plugs has been fixed.

Okay, sounds good.

A little more info on the PCM / adaptives reset in this thread:

They also mention a fuel systems cleaner which might help.

Some have had an improvement with the accelerator pedal relearn procedure:

I'm not sure what speeds you drive, but these vehicles are not at all aerodynamic, and some including myself have found freeway fuel consumption to increase at speeds over 104 kms / 65 mph.

I don't know if you have the FDII trail rated model, but if you do the overall fuel consumption is usually higher due to lower differential gearing for off-road use.

And of course, 4x4 models are almost always higher in fuel use than 2wd.

250km on a 52 litre tank = 20.8L/100km

Which is 4.8km/L in the units you're using

That's 11.3 MPG

There's clearly something wrong!

What sort of petrol are you filling up with?

WOW, that is horrible fuel economy! My FD2 typically got 20-22 miles per gallon. Then I noticed a gradual decrease, down to about 16mpg. I changed the spark plugs and air filter which didn't make a difference. Then the rear wheel bearings started making noise, so I got them replaced. As soon as the bearings were replaced the mpg went back up to 20-22 again. I would imagine that anything that is adding drag could cause your economy to go down, bearings, brakes, diff, etc.
