Hi! I recently purchased a 2014 Jeep Patriot. I love it! I am planning on hitting the road with my newly adopted dog Ziggy. Picture is of Cowboy who passed in July of this year at 18 years old. I am planning on doing Van living. I have never traveled much and want to see the beauty of the States. I have a lot of questions and welcome advice. First question is about removing a couple seats. Can it be done by me or is it best to go to a Jeep dealership and have them do it? My first trip will be to Chicago to see all my friends and get my parents settled in. I live in Vegas now and will be returning every 2 to 3 months for doctor appointments. Thanks and have a great week, Qgyp

Front seats can be removed no problem, especially if they're not powered. But you kinda need one to sit in. However, there's nothing but maybe some soundproofing or something between the backseat and the fuel tank. If you remove the rear seats, you'll need to figure something out. However, in case you haven't been told or figured it out yourself yet, you can tug firmly on the straps at each end of the top of the rear seat backs, and fold them down for more rear cargo space. Middle seat belt can be retracted to the D-pillar and hooked in there, just need a key or something to unhook it from its spot in the back seat.

I’m not sure a person can sleep in a Patriot. They are small and I have tried to in mine, I’m 5’7” and did not fit. However, the two Cherokees we owned were perfect for both my husband and I to car camp in! Good luck and keep us updated on the conversion.

Welcome! Try typing "camper" in the search box above where it says "Search Community."

PS, sorry about Cowboy. Animals become part of the family, don't they? I had a cat for 21 years. I still miss the little guy.

Friendly suggestion. If you have the CVT transmission, I suggest you get the tranny fluid and filters (2) changed. Maintenance should be twice as often as the owners manual recommends.
