just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and knows what the problem is. My 08 pat (2.4 cvt) runs pretty good, but just yesterday i couldn't shift out of park. after looking through my manual I found that there was an override lever so that i could shift into drive and get home. On my way home my engine light came on, and now i have to hit that override everytime i drive it. this same thing happened a few months ago, but only happened once so i didn't go to the dealership. Everything runs the same, so I'm not sure what is going on, and of course the dealer I brought it from is gone for the long weekend already (Canada Thanksgiving). Any way please help me anyone, I need it this weekend and am a little nervous now.

Its the brake interlock switch on the brake pedal. Could be out of adjustment but I'm willing to bet it could be unplugged and jumpered (assuming it's off when the pedal is not depressed).

Probably is the brake pedal switch...

You can test to see if this is what the problem is by depressing the brake pedal... the times when you can't shift from park, look to see if the brake lights are not lit.

Your brakes will still work, but what happens is that the taillights no longer light up. Driveable but the people behind you won't know if you need to stop.

Mine did this same thing.
