Update. Sensor is going again. Sometimes I get no start and as soon as I wiggle the wiring going to that sensor it starts right up. I just replaced the wiring so it can’t be that. Talked to the dealership and I guess aftermarket sensor always seem to cause issues. The one I have is bwd. Got oem sensor on order. Moral of the story, stick to oem sensors. Hoping that will fix the issue

I have a 2008 jeep patriot and had this issue. I know this is an old thread, but believe it or not, I found a thread mentioning the water level on the battery. Filled my battery cells, and problem solved. Apparently it’s possible for the water level to drop to a certain point, that a voltage drop imitates sensors going bad and puts the car in ‘limp mode’. Crazy, but check the water level, or replace the battery if it’s old.

A low battery can definitely make strange things happen to computer controlled cars.

Thanks for the info.

Every 4-6 months I have to replace my crank sensor. Is this a common issue or just mine. I have checked all the wiring and relays everything is fine there. I park it and all of a sudden with no warning beforehand, it will not start. Buy and replace that sensor and fires right up and rolls for another 4-6 months. What am I missing, these things on other vehicles hardly ever get replaced yet this patriot likes a fresh one twice a year. Any ideas will be appreciated.
I've had the same issue in my 2015 Patriot... but less often. 3 replacements in 5 years. Had no idea what issue was at first but a friend had a code scanner at the error was with the camshaft position sensor. Replaced it and worked great... bought my own code scanner when I started having same problem and sure enough, same part error. I'm on my 3rd in the 5 years I've owned my Jeep
