On the way to work this morning, just as I was going onto the exit ramp from 79 south, heard a noise, and all my dash lights lit up. Zero power, so threw it in neutral, and drifted off onto the shoulder.

When we loaded it on the flatbed, I could large amounts of oil under it, but in the dark was hard to see past the skids to see what could have happened.

There was a large spill of oil on the flatbed as we took the Patriot off it too.

At the closest dealer I could find now, and I'm waiting for their call to tell me what went wrong.

Guess I'll find out how good the lifetime warranty is soon.

All is well, nice to be missed. I've been busy watching deer, and birds, and other animals, plus sunrise and set. Still looking for the deer I want, keeping stocked in firewood, watching a little TV (Downloaded latest Dexter yesterday), doing puzzles (crosswords and jigsaw) and sipping bourbon with my dog in front of the fire.

If I get on the computer too much, I'll look at e-mail, then something for work will be there, and I'll check on that, etc etc, next thing I know I'm here working on vacation.

I like some time away from everything. Which is why I haven't called the dealer all week either. Of course they never called me either, unless they only used my work number. Either way I should find out Monday what's going on.

On a personal note, I did accomplish one thing, grew my beard back.

Called twice, was told "It's in the shop and we'll have to get back to you". Sent several e-mails too, no reply.

Have been really loaded up at work here so not much time to check, plus my dad's in the hospital now so more concerned over that, checking on him, finding time to stop by, etc.

It's at South Hills Chrysler Jeep if anyone wants to check.

They have my home, work, and 2 cell phone numbers, my e-mail, etc.

OK guys, I checked and PM'ed Dixie. Thank you so much to the person that mentioned his "real" first name.

I'm going to let Dixie tell you what he wants. Dixie - you can PM me back (or send me your "real" email address) if you need more information.

Believe me, the dealership knows they are being "watched" on this one.

Just called the Service Manager at South Hills Jeep, and of course got his answering machine, or voice mail, and left another message.

Will I buy my new Jeep there? Doubtful. So that's 3-4 of the 5-6 dealers in my area off my list for buying a Jeep.

And their motto "Jeep cares", really?

That sounds like a job for...... "JeepCares" Can you help out DDawg? He's calling you out.

Seriously, no word since November 14th. That is ridiculous.

And Best Wishes to your family.

Thanks. Just called, they have him in surgery still. Took him in at 1:00, even though they said it would be this morning, things happen I guess. Anyway, the nurse said they must be putting a stint in, or he would have been done by now. So still waiting, but I think everything should be ok.

Dad had 3 blockages, two were close so they used two stints. He was back in his room yesterday evening, and going home today. He's a tough patient though. They told him he has to stay home and take it easy for at least 48 hours, but he's telling them he'll be playing horseshoes or darts tomorrow (which is today now). I'll be taking him home later today, and trying to keep him from doing too much.

Great news on your father Dixie! Hoping for the best for both of you.

yes, on both counts.

Dad led most of the march through Europe to Germany in WW2. He is a tough old bird. He never talked to anyone ab out his war experience, until I had my own, and then he would talk to me about it. He also signed the form to allow me to join at 17, over my mothers extreme protests.

Hey dixiedawg,

Great to hear your dad is doing well after surgery. Tell him to stay put for awhile as we all want our dads sticking around for as long as possible.

Doesn't it always seem that issues like this always seem to occur during the holiday season. I lost my mom a couple of years ago just after New Years at the tender age of 68 and then my aunt at 56 the following year at New Years.

It really knocks you for a loop and makes you appreciate the people around you who are dearest to you. Its been 2 years and I still get emotional at this time of year thinking of mom.

Chin up dixie as I know this is so hard to go through!! Forget about the Jeep its just a car and is replaceable.
