Auxiliary 115v power inverter ???

I have searched and searched to try and find out the info on this and locate the proper parts to add the factory 115v outlet in the center console of my 2010 sport. This applies to 2009-2015.

I am wondering if anyone has successfully added this to their rig?

Here is what I found out.

The actual power inverter sits behind the ac controls. Here's the link for the inverter as well as an actual picture. http://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/...odule-only--Up-to-071706--Up-to-073106--Without-bracket/6680077/05026278AB.html

My question is what trim levels would be pre wired for the inverter? Or would all trims with power options be pre wired?

From that point you need the actual 115v power outlet. Heres the link plus a pic. eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/motors/link/?nav=item.view&id=201402951432&alt=web

It is required that you have illuminated cup holders for this part to fit, which I have, so my question is, is there an extra harness from the power inverter to the power outlet that needs to be purchased? Or will there be an existing wire hidden underneath the center console somewhere to plug the power outlet into?

Lastly, is this a feature that would be more than likely be needing fuses and or relays or should they already be there tied into another fuse, or would this be a feature that would require the dealer to turn on via bcm etc...???

Thanks everone in advance

Those are definitely worth looking into. I guess the idea in this case would be to keep it factory.

It most certainly has a fuse. No relay that I know of. As for the harness the only way you will find out if it is there in your vehicle is to go digging for it. I would assume since you have to have the lighted cup holders, that they use the same harness as the outlet.
I will have to go digging and see what I find. If its pre wired for the power inverter the harness has to be tucked away in there somewhere.

Thanks guys!

Makes sense to have a inline smooth looking outlet and I guess its not too much more, good luck.

I also have the illuminated cup holders and there used to be an open square hole in console (under armrest/vertical wall facing front). I remembered asking the dealer years ago to cover the hole with a missing cap, they did. I also would like to have this oem inverter installed. I wonder if it will be as easy as to installing power outlet (inverter) and plugging it in harness under center console. Please let us know if you find out anything else about this.

I found a harness behind the dash, however I couldn't determine if it was for the inverter, heated seats, or hill descent. There was only one plug so im assuming there would've been two if it were for heated seats... the mystery continues!

A quick update on this! I finally found the information that I was looking for to confirm that adding the factory 115v power outlet is plug and play. I have not done thi s myself. ..yet but I will be doing this in the months to come and will do a write up on it.

Can you give some more information, diagram etc on this? I know my 2010 had it but my 2015 does not but I want it.

Yessir! You will only need 3 things. The power inverter, which plugs into a harness that is taped up behind the esp switch. http://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/...odule-only--Up-to-071706--Up-to-073106--Without-bracket/6680077/05026278AB.html

The harness which powers the cup holders and the inverter outlet. Just swap out the old harness that only powers the cupholder with the new one.

And the power outlet itself. Pop out the plug on the center console and replace with the outlet

Ok guys I know this has been an ongoing thread thats been going no where. So with some good news I have started buying parts to get this done. I just scored the harness and power outlet on ebay for $30. I have also located the inverter but im waiting on the guy to get back to me on it.

Hopefully I will get this done soon!

If you look at the power inverter (#12) in the parts location diagram, it shows it back by the gas cap!!!!!! is that a mistake or is it designed to go back there???? thought about going to the auto recycle yard and see if i could scrounge one up and confirm the location. on my "16 the plug mounts on the center console just above the 4wd switch. Has a plastic plug over the hole.

That's what I did , I installed the inverter in the spare tire compartment & run the wire harness to a socket on the consul & also have a socket in the rear.

Nice! You can just remove the bezel around the stereo and ac controls with a panel popper or flat head, once you get that off just unscrew the stereo and ac unit and take them out. The inverter is right behind them.

I'm not sure what year or make you are snagging your parts from but I did find out that the inverter for a 2010 is different from a 2007-2009 and 2011-2015, but any 2007-2009 caliper, compass, and patriot inverter is a straight swap for your 2007.

I went back and grabbed the inverter, lucky me someone took out the radio so it made my job easier.

It was a 2013, I pulled out the whole harness from the inverter to the outlet, if the plug is different on my 07 I'll just have to wire in the power and ground.

it was $14.99 so worth any extra work wiring it in.

I tried clicking the link to the wiring harness but it's not there.
Going off the info from post #17, you have to swap out the old wiring harness that only powers the cup holder lights with a different wiring harness that has wiring for both the cup holders and the outlet.

Wiring harness part number (from post #17) and link below:
