Hi i have been looking for quite sometime now with no luck....
can anyone direct me to a tire 215/65/r16 that has an aggressive tread?

tires i have seen and liked
bfgoodrich all terrains
general grabber at2

looking for something little more aggressive though... any help or names would :notworthy: be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :notworthy:

The yokohama geolanders would be your best bet at that size...discounttiredirect.com has them for $111 with free shipping. I've ordered a few sets of tires from them and they always have great prices, free shipping, and their customer service is the best! Even without a lift though you could probably go bigger though! :D Try the Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 225/70R16....they are also $111 at discounttiredirect.com...keep us posted!

reason for sizing is i don't have the time to install a lift, due to work. and if i get 225's i heard they rub even though they have much larger selection for aggressive radials. so if i understand 225/75/r16 rub at full lock and 225/70/r16 would not rub?

Are you off-roading or are these for snow? I run Grabber AT/2s on Wifey's Wrangler and they're nifty in the snow. Then again, I don't think the AT/2 is rated for severe snow in the size you're looking for. I liked the Grabbers so much, I put Generals on my Patriot. I run General Altimax Arctics for snow (and ice -- we're only an hour from the coast) and they're great . . . but not an aggressive tread for off-road. Tirerack gives them a high rating for snow.

Snow is not too much of a concern i understand the snow rating of tires, grew up in idaho about 5ft snow in driveway then left for cali in 08, but mostly trails, light mud, rocks dirt etc... im 45minutes south of Sacramento so i'll be going to indian valley reservoir, tahoe national forest so mostly woods trails. so far its looking like grabbers or bfgoodrich unless you think a 225/70/r16 would be enough thinner then 225/75/r16, because it rubs at full lock... so im in a bind haha. with stock suspension 70/75 really big difference in width?

check this out and tell me what ya guys think its walmart so dont judge me lol just for sizing...

Product in Inches (L x W x H): 27.0 x 8.7 x 27.0 this is a 215/65/r16 gen grabber at2

Product in Inches (L x W x H): 29.3 x 8.7 x 29.3 this is a 225/75/r16 gen grabber at2

this width is the exact same just height difference? so in theory it wouldnt rub when i turn full lock? or am i missing something with wheels etc...

Rubbing with the steering wheel turned is a function of both width and height. The taller tire will project further into the inner parts of the wheel well when the steering wheel is turned. Also, under full compression of the springs, you will be reducing the clearance in the wheel well.

You should be totally safe with a 215/70R16 Geolander ST-S, since at 215 wide and 28.0inches tall, it is the same size as the upgrade alloy wheel and tire 215/65R17 Wrangler SRA's. I understand that the 225/70R16 Geolander AT-S also fits without rubbing in the wheel well. I understand that when you go beyond 28.5 inches tall and/or 225 wide you will start to get rubbing issues.

Something to consider is that the largest tire which will fit in the spare tire well with the original insulation is the 215/70R16, which makes sense because Jeep provided enough room for a full-size spare the same size as the upgrade alloy wheel and tire 215/65R17 Wrangler SRA's. But no more.

I understand that if you pull the insulation you can fit a 225 wide x 28.3 inch tall tire in the spare tire well, but, for me, the Geolander AT-S 225/70R16 was a really tight fit with the insulation removed.

So, if you want a "fuill size spare" you can go with five 215/70R16's or four 225/70R16's on the ground and one 215/70R16 in the spare tire location or maybe a 225/70R16 in spare tire location with the insulation removed.

Some guys are using the spare tire well for general storage and putting the oversize spare on the rear cargo area floor. Or on a cargo platform or basket on the roof. The problem with the roof mount is possible theft, sun deterioration, and aerodynamic drag which will hurt gas mileage.

If the spare tire height is too far from the rest of the tires, it may cause a problem for the traction control when used with three other taller tires. The limited use spare is 27 inches tall and is used with the 28 inch tall upgrade tries, so it looks like Jeep thanks that a one inch difference is acceptable.

The dealer can reset your Patriot's computer, telling it that you have the upgrade 215/65R17 tires, which will make your speedometer spot on with the same size 215/70R16 tires.

possible match need opinion thanks for all your words of wisodm people

ok so yokohoma geolander at/s 225/70/r16
and general grabber at2 225/70-/r16

and now what i think i want most of all 225/70/r16 bfgoodrich all terrain
225/70/r16 got the specs too want to know if you think they fit with no rub on stock 09 sport 4x4

# Section Width: 8.9 on 6.5
# Overall Diameter: 28.5
# Tread Depth (32nds): 16.0

only 8.9 compared to 8.7 on stock tire but 28.5 compared to 27.5ish think they will fit? and 16/32 is highest treaddeapth with a warranty i have found in that size most of 12-14

tires

Thats what i was thinking had a set of 31x10.50/r15 on a Toyota in high school thx for all the info and input everyone im going to do some price hunting and post some pics soon.

p.s. anyone got a set of tires and rims for pat, 16 or 17 no matter hopefully tire/wheel combo pm me got cash and been looking...... for a long time lol just want a spare set.

Those Hankook Dynamic MT RT01s are one tough tire. The wife had them on her old 2dr Sidekick. At one point in time the vehicle was pulling slightly to one side . . . I checked the pressure and there was 2lbs of air in the tire. There was barely a budge on the side of the tire. They also rode really rough . . . but a really tough tire.

Michelin tires 205/75/r16 steel rims

Does anyone here tried to use a Michelin Latitude from Costco? I'm thinking of buying it but I'm a little hesitant because of the wheel height difference, I need some help here thanks.
