Yep, we've had some members reporting it.

There is a 10 year extended warranty from the first date of service for 2008-2012 for vehicles in the following states:

Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Wisconsin.

If you think this might apply to your vehicle you can PM JeepCares with your VIN number; they can tell you for sure.

No idea.

All I've seen are some comments that some suppliers had perhaps used cheaper, low grade metal or the powder coating wasn't done right, surface contamination, etc. but no official announcement other than the recall.

Here's the link:

my subframes on my '12 look like theyve been sitting on the beach for 9 years. considering fluid film. any advice or concerns? its $200 here. does it need reapplying yearly?
I'd say check to see if you have holes rusted through. If it's rusted through you may still be covered under the 10 year warranty if you're in one of the states I listed in post #2.

Fluid Film once or twice yearly is just what I do as it can wash off over time, especially if you wheel through water and mud.

I usually go through a 12oz rattle can (about $12 at Advance Auto) or close to it each year spraying the sub frames inside and out as well as the coil springs and other suspension parts.

It's a bit messy and smelly but it's better than doing a replacement.
