Thanks to @Flamewave I will be going with a set of 16x8 wheels with 4.5 backspacing. I can not do a lift (at this time) or a PWM. Which of these tires would be the safest bet?

235/70r16 or 225/75r16

Thank you for your help!

I've run 225/75-16s and they fit with a slight rub at extremity, but no problems under normal circumstances. In previous threads I advised others against this size, but when I did it myself I got away with it. Those tires came off our Wranger. Wife didn't like them. They were pretty well worn when I put them on my Patriot, but they still had a summer season left in them so I used them up. Maybe being well-worn helped with the fit; new tires might have rubbed more.

I've never run 235/70-16s.

Here is a link to a size calculator: Tire Size Calculator Those sizes seem to be about 1/2" either wider or taller, depending.

Hey everyone.. I’m a newbie with owning a Patriot.. I got a killer deal on Gladiator stock rims ($300) they are 17” and I’m pretty certain I will need spacers since my stock Patriot tires are P205/70/16.. what size tires should I put on the Gladiator rims so they will ride nice and a wider stance?
