I actually like it more than I expected. It has a Subaru Crosstrek vibe to it that I like. If they do offer the new 2.0l Hurricane w/4wd, as rumored, along with the 2.4, and it delivers competitive mpgs then I think it will do well,

I think it looks better than the cherokee and renegade... Now lets see if the price isn't astronomical like most cars are these days. One thing I don't like about it is the rear side windows are too small. Not sure why styling has gone that way for these windows.

I would like to know the specs on it as to the length-width-weight--etc

The compass changed for the better in what 2011-2012?

This looks like the euro built cars thats taken over the past five years or so. havent research the compass too much so dont feel comfortable giving opinions without much knowledge

Feed it steriods, change the wheels, and swap the gas door to the other side and it would be a grand cherokee wk2.

I'm sure it will have a trail version of some sort. There was a poster on here a few months back who said his friend who worked at a Jeep dealer told him the new Compass was going to have better off-road capabilities then the MKs.

More pictures of the new compass and some great news that there will be a trailhawk version. Looks like jeep is capitalizing on the popularity of the Cherokee trailhawk's look with the tow hooks, hood decal and bigger tires. Id love to buy this car but i definitely would have concerns that its being built in a brand new factory in brazil. There definitely will be quality control issues and it will probably take 2-3 years to workout

The announcement coincides with the beginning of production in Brazil, but that is not where the US version will be made. Instead, that will be built in Toluca, Mexico, which has been building cars for Chrysler for a long time. It also is using many shared parts with Renegade so quality should be worked out for a lot of it.

As for looks, I don't know what people expect. Jeep vehicles have to meet government fuel economy standards, especially as FCA is doing so poorly at selling small cars and sedans in the US. So much of their SUV line has to be fuel efficient. The only way you accomplish that is with a combination of weight, engine efficiency, and styling. That's why all car brands are moving in the same direction on styling. The only way Jeep can offset the traditional Wrangler look is to make sure their mass market SUVs - Compass and Cherokee - have maximum fuel efficiency.

That video is good. It shows everything except exact specs of ground clearance. Pretty much its just a renegade trailhawk that is slightly bigger and wider. Its has the same off road capability of the fd2 patriot. Very disappointing that it doesn't have a rear diff lock or even a true transfer case. I was really hoping they would somehow put the 4wd trailhawk system of the cherokee in this compass. My next vehicle will be more capable, not the same or less.

Yep, apparently the same off-road capability as the Renegade, it will just cost more:

"the external details should help owners make the most of the car's active off-road systems, which include an active drive low system with a 20:1 crawl ratio, a hill descent mode and pre-programmed settings for a host of different terrains including rocks."

This thing looks awesome, still waiting on the powertrain setup for the trailhawk. Almost makes me wish I would have held off on getting my Cherokee, but I do enjoy the V6 power.

Really is starting to look like a Grand Cherokee

sorry these look a like round vehicles are all too common

Id rather stand out a bit . I wish Jeep would not do what everyone else is doing with the compass and keep

a boxy looking vehicle , good gas milage, with a lower price. Its okay though I stay open minded. Once a person

gets great treatment like a great deal, they dont like to get a worse deal.

if you watch the compass vehicle all the extra computer stuff they are charging way too

much for, esp when I'd rather keep it simple. At least the patriot is still selling

Park assist, lane assist, etc. etc. Added complexity adds to the price, I'm guessing you wont touch this thing for less than 35-40K Canadian dollars. Just like the Renegade here, it costs about as much as the Cherokee when optioned out.

So, looks like Jeep is dropping out of the "simple and reasonably priced" game. It's a shame really, there are lots of folks out there that like value and simplicity. That's why I chose my Patriot over the Rav4 and Escape when I was shopping in the first place.

But, I'm guessing the soccer moms will love it? :wink2:
