2016 jeep patriot 4x4 not working.

I have a 2016 jeep patriot and my 4x4 is not working, it says its on but does not work. Also if i get in a slick spot and get to spinning a 4x4! Symbol pops up on the dash blinking, anyone have a idea? Its been to the shop and cant be figured out . Ive heard take it to a dealer but thats big money

I don't know what all has been checked or tried, so I'll just throw out some suggestions.

You can try checking fuse #2, it supplies power to the AWD module.

It could be a problem with the AWD module, the ECC (electrically controlled clutch on the front of the rear differencial) or it's associated wiring and connectors.

If you have access to a code reader that can read all make and model specific codes, there might be a stored code that could help point you in the right direction.

So i hooked up a code reader and it didnt show anything for 4x4 just two oxygen sensors popped up so its not showing anything for a code when the 4x4! Is blinking

I don't know what kind of code reader you have, but if it's one of the less expensive models they usually can't read much more than generic codes (no ABS, body codes, etc.).
