17x8" rims, +10 offset with tires 225/65, alternatively 235/65. Doable without rubbing?

I've been through old posts and threads on here as well as google images and I'm pretty sure this works out. But I wanted to double check with you guys. If I go this route I'll be ordering the rims online without a chance to test fit.... and I do not want to return them or get a setup that doesn't fit like I want it to.

I'm thinking about going from the stock 17x6.5 rims with 225/65R17 Toyo AT tires to wider rims with offset +10. For looks, 235/65R17 would sure look better on those 8" wide rims so that might be a future upgrade in that case. But for now my current Toyo ATs would move over to new rims. Would I be fine without rubbing, running my 225/65R17 Toyos on 17x8 offset 10 rims?

I've got a 2007 Patriot 4x4 with Moog springs from the newer model Patriots, so it's slightly lifted compared to the stock 2008 models.

I know people here that have run stock rims with 30mm spacers, I suppose that would essentially translate to 17x6.5 rims with +9 offset (30mm further out due to the spacers). So if I got this correct, that setup would essentially be the same measurement-wise as my plan of running 17x8 +10 offset rims... only that the tire would be more stretched in my case?

I attached two screenshots of the measurements, one comparing the 17x8 rims to stock 17x6.5 and one comparing 17x8 rims to 17x6.5.

Any advice on this, would I be fine with 225/65 tires. From research I think so... but would I potentially rub inside the wheel well plastic covers on the full turns as the tire moves out and turn radius changes? And what about going with this setup and later on moving to 235/65 tires. Would that rub on the +10 offset wheels?

Many thanks in advance for any input!

I run 235/75/15s on 8" wide rims with 25mm offset, had them on before the lift without rubbing. Below is a comparison of my setup and 235/65/17's w/ +10 offset rims.

My setup is close to the pinch weld but clears, 235/65/17 is 3 mm more in diameter so there's a chance it might rub.
I didn't have any issues with fender contact, but the 235/65/17's will stick out of the fender 15mm more so that's something to keep in mind.

Hope this helps..

Thanks sandstone, this helps for sure. Shouldn't have a rub problem then I guess.

I also found this thread: Offset Question Which has a shot of CraveSingletracks Patriot with 17x7 offset 0 wheels. Putting that into a calculator they should stick out more or less the same as a 17x8 offset 10 wheel. So now I have a good idea of how it'd look as well. Can't decide if they poke out too much for my taste or not... got to think about it a bit I guess =)
