I have no idea how much the alloys weigh, but I changed tires 9 times on the jeep this last week (rotated tires with one jack, mounting the spare as a place holder, then rotated another side again, etc etc) and I've gotta say, the tire/alloy wheel combo is surprisingly light for its size. I'm also curious as to how much the alloys weigh

 

Just the fact they are aluminum vs steel make them lighter...but is it enough of a difference in fuel savings...better mpg's?? Inquiring minds want to know...

 

The 17" alloys are ridiculously light... 12lbs IIRC... sure helps with the fuel economy

Wow...half the weight of steelies? About a 50 # difference....take it where you find it, I s'pose...I would imagine that's par for the course with other alloys...makes my decision easier...

 

There's no way they weigh in at 12 lbs, they would have to be made of magnesium. The actual weight of the stock 16'' steel rim is 22 lbs and the 17'' wheel weighs 18 lbs.

 

Steels are 26.4 lbs according to someone who was selling them on ebay awhile back. The alloys are light but I doubt they are much lighter, if at all. I am will to bet the 17s are about 20 lbs.

 

When I weighed my 17" rims + SRA's and they came in around 49 to 50 lbs. According to TireRack the SRA 215/65/17 weighs 28 lbs so that puts the 17" rims (2010) at 21 to 22 lbs, give or take a little.
