I just turned in my '08 Pat with 68k miles and picked up a '11.

The only issues I had where replacing both outer tie-rods (at about 40k), and the roof water leak. I didn't have a sun-roof. This was a problem where the seal between the skins of the roof where not sealed correctly at the factory. One trip to the dealership and it was handled under warrenty.

I would agree with everyone else, the '11 is more quite and feels more refined. I also switched from a 5-spd to the CVT. My wife won't drive a 5-spd. The CVT isn't bad, just takes some getting used to.

im at 128,232 and ive had a few alternator replacement new strurts front and rear sway bar endlinks. that has been all besides oil changes and going on my 2nd set of tires. overall the pat is reilable and never left me stranded or had to be towed.

A few problems I could mention on mine are, that stupid plastic piece that is on the driver seat railing, I always get my jeans caught on it, it usually ends up ripping my jeans on the leg by my ankle but it might just break the plastic soon. Also some small sun visors but i just found out that they are retractable and be extended over the side window.

I have to admit that I am personally glad to hear about the lack of mechanical issues with the car. As for the tie-rod ends that seem to be a common problem, I just want to mention that my old Volvo s40 2001 couldn't go 40,000km without needing to replace them. My wife's old Honda Accord 2000 had the same kinds of issues.

Back again. Sorry to report that at 110,000 miles Ignatz blew his transmission. The good news is that it was covered 100% by the lifetime warranty.

Just put my 3rd set of tires i am at 182517 and overall I am still so very happy with my patriot.....

124k miles on mine
recently had a bad grinding sound
turns out low on power steering fluid :)
while in the shop they did pull up code P0420 cat converter
no performance issues
not sure of cause yet,
hoping dont need new cat
other than that, alt/starter replaced,
no other problems, keeps humming along

I have a little over 100,000 miles on my '08 (bought in '07) and haven't had any mechanical issues.

The only repair it needed was when a piece of road debris punctured the AC condenser. Other than that, it's just been preventive maintenance.

Threw a rod and blew the engine at 102K miles, back in the next week for another part (check engine light on), and now back in the shop with a cracked exhaust manifold. Have replaced both ball joints, LCA's, wheel bearings, etc.

I'm about to hit 152K. Bought mine end of Summer 2008.

I drive very conservatively. If it is safe I'm in the far right lane at 55 mph and engine brake as much as possible for maximum fuel efficiency and minimum wear on brakes.

~76K First Tire Change (and sparks didn't realize at the time that sparks are
copper and 30k oops, but all good).

~88K Lower Control Arm Bushing went Bad (a little pee-ed since I drive mostly
highway and at low speeds. This is a frikin Off road vehicle how can that
have gone bad already, right?)

~96K Alternator went bad or rather had a bad bearing so it made a loud
scratchy sound; failure imminent. Still charged my battery and
everything was OK though.

~118K First Transmission Fluid Change. It is CVT so I had until 120K.
Mechanic was impressed by how clean everything still was.

~155K Brakes and another tire set. Future. On next vacation next couple of
weeks will get this done. Rear Drums are finally worn and front disks are
below 50%. Technically front is OK, but I've NEVER had to replace
anything yet. I figure it is a good safety PM and heck if my car lasts
to 310K then I'll count myself lucky.

I'm also on my original set of brakes at about 107,000 miles. I've never had a set last this long before. I think a lot of it has to do with the engine braking that's inherent with the CVT.

I have 146k kms on my 2008 Patriot 4WD. Two sets of Disc brakes, New Battery, a lot of suspension problems- control arm, ball joints, bushings, some recent electrical problems resulting in replaced relays etc as well as no power door locks, all 4 TPMS units have failed, Drivers door hinge spring fell out (173 to fix), Frequently throws Check Engine codes now- but not able to get a good diagnosis. Tho sets of tires and in need of another set now. Generally problems started once warranty expired at 100kms. I have spent over 4000 in past year mostly on suspension related and electrical issues. Will probably not get another Jeep.

They were revised along with many other parts. I'm 95% sure the suspension got a slight redesign to make more reliable after 2011+
