You haven't started yet ? I spent a couple hours this evening using Turtle wax adhesive sticker remover and a plastic razor scraper removing all the leftover adhesive from the chrome pillar post covers I removed. I often wonder where in the H do I get some of these brainstorm ideas of mine. I turned it into a Gypsy Wagon and now I Degpsyized it, WTF Over.... What's next, leave it alone ? I say yes for now..................... Next idea ?

Today, I used Fluid Film on my tow hooks. For whatever reason one of them on the front was really oxidized

I tried Nu Finish on the hook with no luck several weeks ago, so I gave the Fluid Film a whirl since I have it. So far so good. I went over the hitch too while I was getting the tow hooks

Amazon carries Fluid Film.

I have some stuff that was developed for off shore oil rig equipment, to prevent rust, that I use on some of my gear. I've thought about spraying the entire underside, but since I'm going to trade it will maybe do that on the new one. It's called CorrosionX:

A lot of the guys I know who are into ocean fishing use it for their gear (rods, reels, etc).

I wasn't able to pick up some FF. Apparently the only store in the greater Sacramento area that supposed to have it, doesn't it carry in stock and I'd have to order it

So it seems that I'll be placing my order online.
Yea it sucks. I will order online too. Fluid film 9.94... Shipping... 6.99

Figures. Lol

So would you suggest I spray everything under the new Patriot with Fluid Film?
I did.

My mechanic has it in gallon cans and sprays it with a gun.
we did the undercoating thing that way and then I did all my interior stuff with rattle cans.

The product is the same but the gun stuff in gallons seems thicker...way less drip.

I simply removed every rubber grommet anywhere I could see one and hosed the area (360*) down, loosened panels, removed speaker grills, wedged this or that open enough to get the rattle can wand in. I was sure to get the lower door panel seam and same on the hatch.

All that seems to have been done with about a couple of cups of the gallon supply and a can and a half of the rattle can stuff.

they, you know they, want you to do the underside once a year.
I will say that general washing doesn't remove it but high pressure hose applied specifically to an area will as well as abrasion.

If you go to kellsports.com (I think that is it) you will see they have a kit available with a far better wand now...longer, flexible and with a 360* nozzle on the end.

I'm really going to try and remove my front and back valances and fender liners this year before I go to the shop for my spray. We will see, I often think of these great things but don't manage to find the time to do them.

I coming up on 12 months of ownership and 30,000 km and neither my mechanic nor I can find any rust on my vehicle...and we have looked for it.
the exhaust where we don't spray has the speckles but that is it. My rear drums are not rusty, my door hinges are not, none on the strut tower bolts in the engine bay...tell me where you want me to look and I'll report back....

oh, I know...my hubs, that known rust spot...look like the pieces just were installed out of the parts bin, not a speck.

I found FF at Princess Auto for $14 a can. Also saw couple of guys carrying gallons leaving the store, must be other Patriot owners from this forum :)
Are they publicly traded ?

I only bought 1 can..... It's a two minute drive.

Installed the hitch and harness. Messed up the cut a little. Will sort that out later...

After washing and 404'ing the plastics, I sprayed Fluid Film on the door hinges only. Man that stuff smells bad. And it's brownish... does it dry clear, by chance?
