So this started a month or so back and ive just been dealing with it but its annoying
So i got my 2016 jeep patriot from my mom when she passed it only has 53k miles but recently my brakes have been weird so normally i have an abs light 4wd and traction control light on but now ill start my car they arent on at first and when they arent my car acts like the abs is triggering as if you drive on ice or slush the pedal will skip and creak then ill get a flashing 4wd light but eventually all my usual warning lights come on then i have normal braking and the car drives fine until i shut it off and start driving again

It could be a failing wheel speed sensor, a failing wheel hub, a problem with the rear wheel sensors coming out of position due to corrosion of the mounting clips, or the ABS module.

I'd recommend checking for codes with a code scanner that can read ABS codes to try to narrow it down.

If you don't have a scanner, a local auto parts store might read the codes for free.

I have 2 different code scanners in my garage and they show no faults or codes on my car at all I recently was gonna change my brakes thinking that was the issue but last weekend i checked my pads and rotors and they are basically brand new i did have a hard line going into a caliper that was backed out a little with threads showing so I tightened it down and bled the brakes and still having the issue

With the ABS light on, I would expect codes either active or logged in the history.

The only other suggestion I have is that the ABS module uses engine bay ground G110 (passenger side). The wires can corrode in and around the eyelet crimp where it's hard to see and cause numerous problems. If it's corroded the fix is cutting the old eyelet off, stripping the wires to good metal, and adding a new eyelet.

More info on it here:

Most consumer level scanners only do generic obdii codes from the engine computer. I would double check the scanner models you have and look up the specs to make sure they read abs and other module codes.
