65,000 miles. Seems to shift ok...ish,but there is a horrible grinding noise.
This started last winter, transmission shop booked out months. Grinding stopped with warmer weather in spring, summer. Now, cooler weather , grinding again.I just changed the fluid hoping that could be it.... Nope, it's back with a vengeance, worse than ever.
So ... does anyone have an idea what this could be?
Thank you

So I've seen people change it with out dropping the transmission.
That has to be the way to go, right?
Seems quite simple, actually.

It's doable, people have done it successfully though sometimes they find there's other issues (worn inner bearings, etc.) that can't be fixed without removing the trans.

If you haven't seen it already, this thread is a good source of info:

I went through the other post, thanks for sharing.
I believe mine only grinds when driving, clutch out.
Clutch in , noise stops. Stopped,At idle no noise.
I can at least pull the cover, have a look at bearing.
Again, thanks for your time responding.

Maybe you have more insight to help?
Bearing won't come off.
Just snap ring holding it right?
Any suggestions? Special tool? hollow end of shaft complicates, the puller I have.Note, there was a minimal amount of very fine , like dust metal fillings in the small amount of oil that came out. Bearing seized? Options?
