2009 2wd with only 82,000 miles on it. Quite a bit of rust on the body but the undercarriage isnt as bad somehow. Going through the basic maintenance that shoukd be done. I learned about the trans fluid and filters so ill be changing those. Anything else i should do?

Welcome to the site! It looks like you've got a nice find. Since you live in a rust-belt state, I suggest checking the frame for premature rust. Most Patriots don't have the problem, but a significant minority do.

Change the oil just to be safe, check the air filter, make sure the suspension isn't too worn, get some steel skid plates installed, and register for Jeep the Mac. It's in a little over two months and alot of the roads I take on Drummond Island could probably be taken by a 2wd Patriot as well if it has good tires. Which reminds me....Cooper AT3's or BFGoodrich KO2's are both good options. Also whichever you get, I recommend getting 5 instead of 4, and a basic black steelie. The donut under the rear floor isn't good for anything, even a tire swing.

Thank! Ill look into that event! New wheels and tires is one of the first things on my upgrade list as soon as i do some research on which wheels to get.

I have Cooper Discoverer AT3's in P215/65R17, the size my rig came with, and therefore the size the speedometer is already calibrated for. Not sure if you can get the KO2's in that size, and they're heavier than the AT3's, but they do technically provide better traction.....likely better than you'll ever need, lol.

are tires like those for street use or off road? Would you use them in snow?

I use these things everywhere, with more confidence than any other tire I've had on there before.

These are usually considered the best, but are heavier, and are not to my knowledge available in a size much(if at all) smaller than what's generally considered about as big as can be gone without any rubbing or modification to avoid rubbing. https://www.discounttiredirect.com/buy-tires/bfgoodrich-all-terrain-t-a-ko2/p/32070
