ok so, my rear right blinker and break light is not working on my 2008 jeep patriot and i really need it to pass an inspection. i suspected it was a grounding issue so i stripped and replaced the ground near the alternator behind the right side headlight.. no dice :( upon further inspection i found a aftermarket trailer harness that was installed and suspect it could have shorted something on the TIPM. if i remove the trailer harness and find a TIPM from a pick and pull and replace it dose anyone think it could resolve this issue ?? PLEASE HELPPPP

Step 1 is to replace the bulb, even if it looks good. Step 2 should be to replace the bulb socket, even if it looks good. You can get replacement sockets at most auto part stores or online. In my '14, I've had to replace both of them. They looked good, but didn't work.

ok thanks ill try that today on both the front and rear right side today. yeah i tried to re ground it and nothing worked so this is my last hope before moving on to TIPM issues

The ground by the alternator (G110 on the diagram) isn't part of the rear lamp circuit.

Is the front signal out as well?

Be sure to verify the wiring is good (no shorts or opens) before you replace the TIPM.
If it was a short in the wiring harness that damaged the TIPM and it isn't repaired, it could blow the next TIPM up too.

no, only the back right blinker is out and then break light on that lamp. Everything else is working fine. Do you have any tips to find a short or open in the harness ? And lastly could it be the G303 ground then ?

I'd suspect the problem has to do with the added trailer harness, so I'd be looking at where it was spliced into the vehicle wiring.
G303 is inside the cabin back by the spare tire, I doubt it's corroded but perhaps it's been cut into, diagram below.

Using the connector pin-outs below, use a DVM to measure continuity from the ground pin of the plug to the chassis, and measure the voltage supplied from the TIPM to the bulb socket.

If you have more than a few ohms resistance when measuring the ground then start tracing the ground wire, if you have no voltage from the TIPM then start tracing that wire.

As mentioned, it could be a socket problem as well, and I presume you've checked to make sure the bulbs are good.

Just purchased a 2014 Jeep Patriot and it had issues with fast blinking and had the rear turn signal bulb out. Here's a video I made on how to replace the rear blinker/turn signal on the 2014 Jeep Patriot if anyone has not done it before:

Hope it helps and let me know if you have any questions.
