I decided to make a new post, this is somewhat related to the thread where I thought I snapped my passenger front CV axle.

http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274521

I have my vehicle up on jacks and ramps today to test out me theory. Turns out my CV axle appears to be fine, unless you guys spot something different.

Here is how the issue comes up.

Passenger wheel full flexed and drivers wheel pushed up (opposite of flexing)

Now watch this video (in case you are wondering how my jeep didn't drive away, I pulled the 4x4 fuse I could just run in fwd)

I get massive vibration in the steering wheel when this happens. As you can see the drivetrain/engine is moving a whole bunch, which I've never had happen before. Is this a motor mount or something else?

The really stupid part about this, is when I reverse the test and have the driver side wheel fully flexed there is no vibration and no movement in the drivetrain.

I love you jeep!

Wow, that's crazy! Watching your last video of when the pop first happened, it sounds to me like you may have a gear or something internal broke on that one side...inside your transmission.
The only way to tell would be to check the transmission fluid for any metal pieces.

It's definitely not any mounts. At least this is my theory...

Well the funny thing is driven normally..........I have absolutely no issues. I would think that if I had a gear or something trashed inside the transmission that I would have had a catastrophic failure by now. Like I said flexing the opposite way I have zero issues. When all tires are flat on the ground and spinning no problems, its just a really bizarre problem.

That is a really bizarre problem!

I used to have an old Chevy S10 that would rev up while I was in drive and all of a sudden pop into gear. This would be at random times, often the most worst times. One day, my transmission decided it had enough, and completely snapped the low/reverse hub in my transmission. This experience prompted my theory...

What about your CV axles? Are they both still good? They are still connected, but maybe one of the knuckles in the boots got damaged?

I did hear a resonant clicking sound during the movement...I'd be willing to say that when you find the origin of the click, you find your problem.

The click isn't my axles I know that, both axles were replaced about 5000kms ago, I'm thinking motor mounts or transmission mounts, have to take it to someone to have a peak one of these days.

Did you try turning the wheel both ways to see what happens? I'm curious to crawl under myself.

After re watching the video a couple more times, I think I'm wrong about the exhaust hitting the u-joints. At 0:45 you can see everything moving as one unit. As it should being all bolted together. So in my mind that leaves mounts. Seems to be stable at front driver corner but move a whole lot everywhere else.

technically,i would say mounts.
the only thing that would make sense.

I'm probably not going to even bother with the dealer and warranty. Considering it only happens when offroading if I try to explain that to them they will instantly hit the deny button. The ptu and rda are fine from a functional standpoint. Like I said zero problems until I flex this one way. I like the idea of a nice loader vehicle though.

Offroading is all over the Jeep marketing and literature. It's not against their policy it's actually encouraged. Now sinking it in a lake and trying to pass it off as driving through a puddle they will deny. Say you had to drive through a construction zone or somewhere with a large pot hole, even on road you might be able to get a flex pattern like that. I still say wash it up show them you properly maintain your vehicle and bring it in. Anything that is drivetrain OEM they have to cover for 5 years or 100,000 miles unless they can prove negligence.

Any thoughts JeepCares?

Heck technically I was on a road here: But if I would have kept going or if I had been on the other side in an emergency I might have had to drive through 2 feet of water and bounce over a trench(I would say the water damage wouldn't have been covered but if I had driven reasonably through the trench, if there was one, and a swaybar link or something snapped that should be covered): https://plus.google.com/photos/1026...photos/102639421360001209258/albums/5872382891126905297?authkey=CISdz42RzIa7jwE

dude... wtf did you do to that thing?? It looks like it has to be something to do with one of the trans-axles. regardless, something is broke
Treating a car like a jeep :pepper: Honestly I can't believe its taken this long for something to be somewhat serious to break, my spirits are down a bit, went and looked at 2 jeeps today. Its basically between 3 right now.

2011 WK2 Overland fully loaded Quadra Lift Air suspension + Rear electronic LSD (Basically a locker)

2015 WK2 Laredo Base Model with Offroad Adventure (Skid PLates tow hooks ect)

2015 Cherokee KL Trailhawk 2.4L

But i'm not totally ready to park ways with it yet, why couldn't I grenade the rear end, I have a spare one of those:doh:

But spending a bit to fix everything is still cheaper than all those options:p

No need to slam, WK2's with the air suspension have park mode...........but I don't think you can go faster than 5mph before it starts to raise.
