any updated info on programmers for our 2.4?

finally tired of not being able to pass someone who is about to block me in on the highway... from my research it looks like any performance mods are severely limited by the jeep ecu. as of 2 years ago it looked like no one had developed a cost-effective tuner for these engines. is this still the case?

I've looked into an intake and exhaust only to come to the conclusion that they will not change much due to the factory ecu. maybe with a good tune this would be enough of a power increase for me.

if not, srt4 turbo swap has given me some interesting ideas, but would still run into the same problem of not being able to tune it unless we swapped in the srt4 pcm. so back to square one... any good tuners or programmers or recommended shops in the northeast??

PS: i'm not looking for a $50 fix... A few hundred for a good tune would be worth it to me

There are non, and probably wont be any for the Patriot because in order to even read the computer, you need an activated StarScan-tool which cost upwards of $1300-2K and only authorized Chrysler dealerships can activate them. I read a thread online about a guy who owned a repair shop, and bought one. Went to activate it and admitted he was not Chrysler certified and they locked his tool out. He now has a $2,000 paperweight. It's BS, but it's a good way to ensure their vehicles will make it back to the dealers, not a local repair shop. That being said, nobody has really been able to reprogram them. I have toyed with the idea of using a Caliber 2.4 FWD computer if you have a 2.4 fwd. I imagine a cali computer in a 4x4 would cause issues...

Sorry to hear about your experience Sandstone. I'll definitely keep my expectations in check, not going to lie I was pretty stoked when I got a yes from them. My plan is to find a dyno in my area and tune the jeep stock. then tune it again with intake and exhaust. when I get those numbers, send a pcm to b&g with the results and hope they send me a pcm.

The way it sounds I wouldn't be surprised if they send it back stock and hope you don't notice...
Funny you should mention it. Spacepoliceman pulled the PCM from his Patriot and parked it until he got the PCM back. I could be wrong, but I don't think he did a before/after dyno, soooo.....yeah. Without a before/after there's really no way to tell if the code was ever changed

The other thing I'd be worried about is using my rig as a guinea pig for a one of a kind untested bench tune. If something breaks (like the CVT) I seriously doubt they'd cover it, and of course the warranty would be voided.

I wonder if you could build a system to intercept the signals from a stock pcm and retransmit the signals we want modified.
