Wrong tranny fluid in my 2012 Patriot

Two months ag I bought my 2012 Jeep Patriot Latitude cvt. I did not know at the time to check the transmission fluid for the right fluid and since I’ve had it I’ve noticed jerking in the transmission when driving it, faint whining, grinding noises, then two weeks ago while driving my transmission just went out completely. I checked the transmission fluid after researching possible causes and the fluid was red, not green as it should be. I had the transmission output speed sensor replaced, but still nothing. It starts and sounds fine while running, just won’t go into gear. I was told to flush the tranny which will cost $350. What are the odds that if I pay for the flush my tranny will be ok?

Umm ATF4 is usually red. Not sure where you are getting green at. Anyway, if you didn't use the right transmission fluid you may have completely borked your transmission from what it sounds like. I wouldn't even bother with a flush till you get the full context of the issue with it. Engine light on or anything?

My mistake, forgot about the Mopar fluid.

You may have to start shopping around for for a new transmission, just make sure to get one with low miles and a year warrenty would be my advice. There is no saving a cvt, when it shits the bed most of the time.

From what I gathered with my 2014 patriot with CVT tranny is that these transmissions are throw away units. Once something is wrong, they replace the transmission with a new one. Mine whined and shot a transmission check light when travelling at speeds over 75 for prolonged time. Dealership replaced the transmission under warranty.
