Why do you like your Patriot?

OK enough with all that is wrong with the Patriot. I would like to know what is good about it so please use this thread to share the good stuff. Why do you like it?
For years I wanted a Jeep and one day I noticed the 2014 Patriot 4x2 at the right price so I bought one. I call it my civilized Jeep because it is automatic, has A/C and a roof which are very handy in South Florida during the hot rainy season. I love that turning radius at the Sawgrass Mall! That 2.4 L, 172 hp engine is enough in this traffic, after all how much speed do I need to the next red light? At 3,000 miles I’ve changed the oil and filter and I get 21 mpg. I will never intentionally go into the Everglades to visit the snakes and alligators looking for trouble and costly repair bills, but it is nice to know the Patriot has what it takes to be a manly Jeep. My first four hour road trip was on a two lane road at 30 mph to Mile 0 at the end of US1 in Key West. Been there, done that. So far it has been lots of fun. So tell us, why do you read this stuff?

I love standing out. I'm making it a nice car to show up at meets and shows and turn heads. It's not an import, but I'll be able to snap just as many necks!

It's an amazing all around SUV, I love it. I wouldn't trade it for anything else at this current time. Oh, plus I've had two problems since 2009 ball bearings, and a turn signal malfunction!

We love simplicity and the low maintenance costs associated with that.

- Hand crank windows.
- Keyed entry and ignition. We bought and self programed two extra keys for about $25, not the $150 -$300 some spend.
- Compartment above the glove box to store paper navigation system (map).

We did splurge on air conditioning and were pleasantly surprised at all that is included standard even on a basic model: cruise control, traction control, window tinting, roof rack, TPMS (mixed blessing), ABS, Oil Life Monitor, and on and on.

And, shamelessly, I like to drive something different than the rest of the soccer mom sheeples. I like it's looks. I like that I am defying all the magazine ratings, which seems quite common when you compare owner reviews vs. the rag reviews. And, I have a wonderful farm gal wife for 38 years that is appreciative of the what we have ...she loves it too.

Couldn't get a new or couple year old Silverado for a good price. So the things I absolutely need were 4x4, 4 doors and good MPG. Since my wife had a Compass and it was working out I went and looked at the Patriot. After going over the numbers and all the options the patriot came with I couldn't pass it up for the price since it was a brand new truck.

The wife wanted a Jeep. I knew we couldn't afford the Wrangler or Grand Cherokee so I did some research and came across a 2012 Patriot in town for a great price. We enjoyed it so much we decided to get a 2013 Patriot optioned just like we wanted. It also helped the decision for me to get a Compass! Anyway, we like the Patriot because of the look, the versatility, the great highway manners, the AC outlet, simple control layout, and the stupid easy Uconnect system. I drove a Corolla for years and would be tired after a long trip; don't get that tired feeling after driving the Patriot or Compass.

I think the question should be "why wouldn't you like your Patriot?". I freaking love mine.

My Patriot gives me the most in every category with the least trade-offs: interior space, mpg, handling, turning circle, roof-rack, comfort, price, versatility, etc.

Thanks, treegrower, for mentioning the hand-crank windows: to me that's a real selling point. Mine is pretty basic and that's what I like about it. Can the gizmos, give me a machine!

I got it mostly for winter snow, and with FWD it can handle it just fine.

Life is good!

Thanks for the quick response. I remember a time when I sold my beautiful bike in order to buy all sorts of baby stuff. Now she is a graduate and I finished paying college tuition and can proudly say: Fatherhood is great, but I’ve done my time in a minivan. So off I went to find my youth, but that jeep I dreamed off long ago was gone. Then I saw the Patriot and just like that I feel pride in my ride again and I park it here, park it there, park it everywhere and when they ask if that’s my truck, I quickly reply: No! That’s my new Jeep! Yes! Life is good! My wife is so happy to see me like this. •|||||||• :pepper:

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
unstoppable in snow, able to ford flooded roads (to the doorsills), tight turning circle, frugal, dependable, comfortable but not luxurious, loves washboard gravel roads, holds a bunch of stuff (more than Liberty) easy to add my VHF radio gear, heated seats, height adjustable seats, a roof rack that works, decent headlamps, my independent mechanic is comfortable with all its systems, burns regular gas, my MiL can get in and out without help. That's just the start.

I wanted a four banger small SUV that was 4 wheel drive and still looked like an old boxy body on frame vehicle. Bang! The Patriot! I don't think it's exceptional, but it's sure good at everything!

I think at the time it was the only four-cylinder, four-wheel drive vehicle out there? Everything else was a V6 gas waster like the Escape or the uber expensive LR2! For that price I could have bought any Jeep I wanted! -Oh, and the cost of the star sticker thrown on the hood!..

Turning radius, heated seats, fold flat seats, lighted cup holders, great oem headlights and fog lights, 115v power outlet.
