Get some PIAA's. I love their replacement bulbs, either that or some Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's. I have read in other places about the Silverstar having a distinct cut off.... not sure if that is true or not, but they are less than half the price of PIAA's.

Only downside I've been reading about the Silverstars is they're only rated for about 250 hours of use before they burn out. (I think the Ultras go 300 hours...) Pretty poor compared to the 800-1100 hour estimated life for standard headlights.

A lot of Silverstar owners report they've gotta replace their lamps every 3-6 months. That's not really acceptable to me. I guess that's why people spend the $'s to go HID instead.

I think the XtraVisions are the only bulb upgrade Sylvania offers that still has a reasonable balance between brightness and lifespan. It's only a "notch" better -- but not a real expensive upgrade either, so I may try those.

 

I have read on this forum that HID causes computer problems. I bought Sylvania SilverStars for our Patriot and they are definitely brighter than the OEM bulbs but I don't know how long they will last. If they don't last long enough for me, next time I will look at Philips Crystalvision. Check out the following thread:

I saw there are many bulbs (H13 I searched) on ebay, they are sale for $10~$15. Some of them are even HID. Did anybody try there? Are they still good?

Don't waste your money on ebay. It's all junk. Get either Sylvania or Philips. I have put a pair of Philips X-treme's and loving them so far.

 

I have regular Silverstars. Have an Ultra in my motorcycle. Anything to make the deer show up. LOL

 

Another vote for PIAA xtreme white plus.

 

here are the piaa Xtreme bulbs in my compass with the stock fog lights. the oem headlights are the same color as the oem foglights so you can really see how white the piaa bulbs are. i really like them for night driving.

Frankly, I thought the Patriot has pretty bright eyes as it is. Wa-ay better'n my old Pontiac or Wifey's Wrangler.

 

Shecky, I like the way those PIAA's look. How much did they run you? Are they direct replacement? I spent $60 on a pair of HELLAs....absolutely no difference from factory bulbs. Don't waste any money on those.

 

Any Canadians out there know where I can get a hold of these Phillips CrystalVision Ultra H13 bulbs? I can get them on Ebay but with shipping a set would run me over $57.:doh:
I'm hoping to find them cheaper locally.

 

First Modification on the Patriot today was the headlight bulbs.

Osram Nightbreaker Plus, street legal and a whiter light with greater beam length as well, haven't got night shots yet but pics should show the difference anyway.

Have used these on other vehicles and give results.

 

On other cars I've owned I've always used sylvania. But you can buy them at advanced auto or auto zone.

 

i upgraded my headlights and fog to sliver-star and now i want to get piaa or hellas it was a most and now it look cool and helps out cuz i drive a lot at night, a must is the fog lights

 

Did anybody know where to buy these bulbs online From/In Canada except EBAY?

 

I bought my set at mopac, google it to see if there's one near you.
