Yep, parked outside my mom's house the new neighbor across the street jumps in his old piece of crap rattling ass 80's Camaro and backs up fast hitting the rear passenger side of my Patriot. The alarm starts going crazy and I open the door (of my mom's house) looking out and he looks at me and smiles??? Then takes off!!! WTF!!?? I ran to my Jeep almost cryed but I was too angry and chased his ass.. lol.. all the way to his work and started screaming! Oh yes one angry white woman in the pouring down rain I was!!! He and about 20 other hispanic co-workers came out wondering what the hell is going on and well.. I told them. Luckily he did have insurance and it is going to get fixed this week I hope.

I would have had the f*cker charged with failing to remain. Plain and simple.
Had your alarm not gone off and created a ruckus you can be sure he wouldn't have owned up to it, and you would have had to take care of this yourself.
Why was he in such a big hurry anyway..drug deal gone bad? Why did it happen anyway? His fuzzy dice hang too low and it blocked his view?
Did you ever have a conversation with the neighbour about who this schmuck was and advise them he is a peice of crap?

Um, yeah, did you call the 5O? You'll should have a report for insurance, and press charges cause he's an idiot.

he blatantly did something illegal...it's call "hit and run" . you could have put that jack-@$$ neighbor in jail or slapped him with a huge fine + community service.

he should be happy that you didn't press charges. since he is your neighbor though, i wouldn't mess with him too much. just some advice...y'know...you shouldn't sh*t where you eat. lol.

After I chased him to his work and asked him why he took off.... He said, "I was late for work so I could not stop". I was like WHAT?! You know that is a hit and run and you could of went to jail?! He just stood there with a lost look on his face.. and just said, Im sorry. He said I did not see your car parked there. It was accross the street and he parks in his yard, so he had a whole street to back out into to leave. His car has tint on the windows and a huge chevy bowtie in the back window also so that could keep him from seeing BUT still.. it was insane how he hit me and then just took off.

Yes I did go to the police and make a report after I talked to him. They were even shocked. I also asked him for his insurance and he said, well I dont have it with me its at home.. He was supposed to call me that day after work or that next morning and he didnt so I had to drive up to Sulphur Springs again and I went to his insurance place myself and they said he came in but never said a thing about a wreck. So I went to see him AGAIN at his work and he said I want to pay you in cash to fix it and my friends body shop... I said, lol.. NO you are going to have it fixed by a pro at a dealership that I know does good work and here is the estimate, $1,500. He got mad at me and said fine, lets go to my insurance company and do it that way. I was like yes because I will need a rental car for 3 days also while they fix it.
I told him, he is getting off easy because I could have his ass in all kinds of trouble for what he did. Anyway, I am now waiting for his insurance to contact me and if they dont soon I will have mine (State Farm) on their ass.

Do yourself a favour call the cops even now. He could make up some story to the insurance company. There are many ways you can get screwed if you don't. He also deserves it for taking off. Do it now.

Even the insurance company might try to weasel out because you didn't report it. There might also be some kind of deductable and they might balk at the rental car. The guy will probably try every little trick not to pay you. He could hide his car and completely disavow anything to do with it. Do you have witnesses? Do you really trust someone who took off?

You will thank me.

If you please, when you did inform the police that he hit your Patriot and then left the scene and drove to his work, what did they say? They should have gone to his work or home and arrested him then and there. If he is not held accountable for his stupidity, then he'll do it again, and the next time there might someone hurt...

Just my two cents...

Hope you it fixed real soon girl...

I did talk to his insurance and they gave me a number to call and a claim number. Its the weekend and most places are closed so I will call in the morning (Monday). I did report it to the police at the police station just after it happend. The cop told me he was going to go to his house and his work to speak with him.
I will call and talk to that cop again to make sure he placed a report.

I hope I dont get screwed.. but we will see after tomorrow.

Thanks for all your input!

Girl, please keep us posted... I hate hearing about someone's misfortune, especially a Patriot owner and member here, not having a happy ending...

08BlackPatriotgirl,

At least you have someone to go after....

Wade can't really press charges against those birds that used his Jeep as a toilet, nor the parking pay box, nor the light pole....

Sounds like you are doing everything that you can. Hopefully it will be resolved quickly.

Those birds? Joe, it was just ONE bird! Give me shotgun and I'll show you what I can do to that bird! Anyway, Orange Crush is much better now...

Girl, I hope you get your Jeep back good as new real soon...

Some people are plain irresponsible and cynical bastards who deserve the biggest stick be used on them to teach them civilised manners. Hit and run and in front of your eyes on top of that is such an arrogant, rude and criminal act that this guy deserves the toughest recourse possible

Well, at least the damage doesn`t look too bad on the pics ... seems that only the rear door is crumpled, so the repair shouldn`t be so complicated and no chassis straightening involved.

:smiley_thumbs_up: Thumbs up for your immediate bold action BlackPatGirl, hope everything goes well and let us know how the repair went, OK?

I don't know how it works up there but here, the insurance company wont entertain a claim unless you have reported the incident to the police and gotten a report number in return. According to a friend of mine (insurance sales guy) this helps taking people to court if the claim a fake... all though not 100% effective.

I'm sorry to learn about that hit and run, and that's what it was. Don't worry about anything but covering yourself. Do whatever you need to make sure you are properly covered including filling out any paperwork for the police.

Good luck, and please let us know how things turn out.

Hi there. Sure sorry to hear about this. :(

I know it hurts to have your Jeep clobbered and the followup paperwork is a pain. There is also a damage called "diminished value" for ending up with a repaired vehicle.

When I had a similar thing a while ago, my insurance company, USAA, paid for quality repairs less the deductible. Then they made a claim against the other guy's insurance company for what they paid me and for my deductible. It took a while, but eventually the other company paid USAA the whole amount and USAA sent me a check for my deductible.

I sure hope it works out to your satisfaction. :)

Hi Guys/Gals

Im posting a update on the Jeep. She is in the shop now as of today. They are paying for all damages and gave me a rental (turd) to drive.. lol
Did I mention I hate this rental..lol Its a 09 Chevy Aveo and its the cheapest most crappy rental they would give me I guess..

Really it sucks and has NO power.. I think 106hp IF that. Oh well its only for 3 or 4 days an I can have my Pat back.

:p
