Been hearing water moving around for a little while on and off... tonight (it has been a few days very hot here) I had water dripping on my feet. I was a little surprise.

Thanks for the pics and info this was a 5 minute fix. Just make sure you have that hose ready because water will run out when you take the pipe off.

It was obstructed with grime, mud, bugs.. the usual suspects.

Thanks

Air conditioning tubing

I know this is an older post but I had a question about removing the air cOnditioning tubing. Did you use a tool to remove it? I tried just pulling but its really on there. If someone could help I would appreciate it. Thanks

Hey Y'all, I'm well aware that this is an old string, but it just saved my bacon.

I've got a 2007 Patriot, and everything described here (symptoms, diagnostics, solutions) were absolutely spot on. Was able to fix the jeep in a total of 8 minutes.

The only thing different between my situation and others I read was that my hose wasn't the thing that was clogged, but the actual spout that the hose is connected to.
When I pulled the hose off, nothing happened. (I was prepared for a torrential downpour!) After a few seconds though, this unidentifiable blob began to slowly appear out of the spout. Eventually, the weight of the water push out the clog, and I was able to put a water hose on the spout to divert the water out of the car. About a liter of water came out, and a lot of grime.

Anyways, just wanted to say a huge thank you to all for being able to help me make the wife happy!

2012 Patriot here,

I blow the A/C condensation drain tube out with an air compressor at least once a year. This is about a 10-minute job. Super easy and not worth spending $90.00 at the dealership.

One thought is: When you take it in for an oil change or do it yourself, just blow out the drain real quick. It is irritating but a simple solution all the same.

bumping a really old thread... but i have this problem with my 2011 Patriot. Used the AC this weekend on a long road trip and wound up with water all over the passenger side floor. Also remember hearing the sloshing of the water in winter but didn't get any leaking at that time i don't think.

Anyway, is the ac drain in the same place on the 2011 Patriot as is it on the 2008? The reason i ask is because 99% of the water is ending up on the passenger side, not the drivers side.

My 2008 patriot (24,000 mi) just started having water in the floorboards. We have husky liners so it is all being caught by them. I assume this is AC condensation. You can hear it sloshing around in the dash board. When you turn left it hits the heater core and you can hear it boil. When you turn right, boiling hot water pours down on your right foot(I made the mistake of wearing crocs today and the hot water burned me). Anyone else have this happen yet? And if so, is it a warranty deal? I haven't had it in yet, wife only told me about the problem yesterday.
Looks like you have to clean out the AC drain hose... Located under teh hood to the bottom of teh firewall on teh driver's side. I used a can o f compressed air to blow into the hose to clear it out and watch all teh water drain.

Thomas KC, When you blow the AC drain out do you just pull the hose from the hole in the floor and hook your compressor up to that end? Do you see anything discharge from the top side when you do this?

I had this very same problem with my 2003 Dakota. The fix? Attaching an old rubber hose elbow to the existing A/C drain line. For some reason, the Dakota's drain was parallel to the ground, so the water would dribble out and then back in when the truck was off. I found this out after removing the ENTIRE interior and riding around with no carpet for a few weeks to see where the water came from. This was after blowing out the line a few times, so the fix ended up being 10 minutes and about $1.

07 Pat Leaking Floorboards - What I Found

I was searching this forum and I was having water in my floorboards behind the drivers seat. I pulled the carpet up to locate the hose under the gas pedal. Low and behold my pipe wasn't even in the hole like it was supposed to be. I will blame that on my husband and his audio because there was cut off 0 gauge wire right above the hose. I put the hose back in place, aired out the back seat and I'm going to check the floor boards tonight.

Picture of my hose dislocated and how I found it, Tuft of 0 Gauge Wire, and the amount of water I shop Vac'd out of my back seat and it was still wet.

AC Drain clog = burned toes

Thank you all very much. I have been hearing that sound and getting splashed when taking turns at intersections, on both sides on floor for a few weeks. This morning I got scalded for the first time (not running air conditioner must allow water to heat up for some reason?) I couldn't disassemble the drain line at the top end but I was able to stuff the lower end into a drain hose and while wiggling the top end, I broke loose the blockage, and it started to drain. It wasn't as much fluid as I expected but I jammed a towel in under the accelerator pedal just in case, which did get soaked. I did attempt to ram a wire up through the drain line also. I am glad to be able to fix something minor myself, thanks again for the forum and the photos!

That's some pretty incriminating evidence! How long did you have him on dish duty? Dish pan hands!
Thanks for bring this ole thread back to life. Good thing to know about...for the future.

Keep the Shiny Side Up!
